I have the GS and love it! Unfortunately it’s my first bike and I have nothing to compare it to. Either way you can’t go wrong, although I don’t care for the fairing on the Ninja 500 overly.

I have a girlfriend who is all excited about my having a motorcycle. I told her a long time in the future when I’m really good on it, I’ll take her for a ride, but only if she wears low cut jeans with a thong hanging out the top. It’s kind of our running joke now. Every time she’s shopping and she sees a pair of racy underwear she calls me and describes it to me in detail.
So add that to the list; female passengers must wear panties that coordinate with the bike.

That sucks! I was watching youtube video on the weekend on the proper way to pick up my bike off the ground. I haven’t had any drops since the first one, but I know it happens to the best of us.

I think part of the problem up here is it’s a governmnet program. So you have to pay for the 18 layers of bureacracy that went into setting it up.

They were super cheap, $30 a pair at the bike shop. If you’re concerned about visibility, make sure you get LED lights. They’re tiny but they pack a punch.

I’ve heard several people from all over say the dealerships are taking deposits for ’09 models. Usually they come in the fall.

They’re surprisingly bright. I haven’t had any issues with people not knowing I’m turning yet.

I ran into exactly the same situation. It is frustrating, but stick to your guns, because you’re right and they’re not. I can’t believe in this litigious society that bike stores are so cavalier about putting new riders on great big bikes.
