ShannonGParticipant
After talking to the ladies at the store , my bike is coming from, I think I will opt for the FS-10 without the flip-up face. They said wind noise is radically increased in the hinged helmets and they’re seeing a lot of returns because the hinges are breaking just from everyday use.
They are less than $300 up here. I didn’t hink that was ridiculous for a helmet, or am I wrong?ShannonGParticipantI like your taste in bikes! But I can’t speak to the Ninja 650. There’s lots of informed people here who can, though.
ShannonGParticipantDo you have a local news webpage with classifieds? That seems to be the best source for used vehicles around here.
ShannonGParticipantThis is all such good advice! From being a road cyclist I have learned to always ride in traffic as though no one sees you, because chances are they don’t . Covering my brakes coming into a situation has saved my bacon a couple of times.
ShannonGParticipantI pick it up sometime next week! I am going to burst I’m so excited!
ShannonGParticipantI think my plan once I’m riding out in the world and parking in public places (the movies keeps cropping up in my mind, I mean, you’re away for minimum 1 1/2 hours and no one leaves the movies to check on their vehicle) is to just bring along my bicycle lock and lock it to a railing. Just that little bit of deterrent may keep the spontaneous thief from grabbing my bike. Obviously it wouldn’t stop a pro, but my bike is entry level and not screaming ‘steal me’ (yet).
ShannonGParticipantIn my mind it already has LED signals on shorter signal stalks, a K&N air filter, a dynojet carb kit, a Supertrapp exhaust with stainless pipes, and a custom paint job. I pick her up next week!
ShannonGParticipantI found the bike reviews on this site really helpful.
ShannonGParticipantHi!
ShannonGParticipantKelowna, BC, Canada. About as far from you as I could get without having to hop on a plane.
ShannonGParticipantYou can’t get a ’08 Ninja 250 in British Columbia Canada for love or money right now. The dealership has two 500s in the showroom, but they’re butt ugly.
People went crazy for the new 250 because it’s finally a starter bike that doesn’t look like something you inherited from your Grandpa.ShannonGParticipantHe called and left a message today and was very, very nice and basically said it’s my bike, take as long as I need. yay!
ShannonGParticipantHave you seen the Suzuki SV650? They make it both in a faired version and a naked. They’re like 59 horsepower and rated pretty highly as a beginner bike.
ShannonGParticipantWe had a friend tell us about this dinky little local shop. You pull up outside and he’s got a million heavily used bikes all rusting in the parking lot, and you think ‘oh no’ but his prices on accessories, helmets, jackets, etc are better than any of the shiny big dealerships. I tried on a Joe Rocket jacket there that I would very much like to buy if I get the chance. I guess my point is ask people you know who already ride, they’ll know where the deals are.
ShannonGParticipantI said I would be taking it home sometime this week. I think if I offer them more money it hopefully shouldn’t be an issue, but I hate being one of ‘those’ customers.
