Used ninja 250?

I’m thinking about about getting a motorcycle. After doing some research I decided to get a Ninja 250. Well, now I’m trying to decide if I want to get one new or used. Used would definately be more economical for me.

There is someone selling a used 250 close by. It’s a 1994 and supposedly runs well. He wants 1200 for it, but that kind of seems high for a bike that old. Is it a bad idea to buy a 14 year old bike to begin with? Should I try to get something in the 2000+ range? I don’t know how many miles are on it, but I assume there are quite alot and he says it’s been laid down once.

    Thanks for any advice!

A friend of mine who is very mechanical said you shouldn’t really be looking at a bike if it has more than 15,000 miles on it. Other than that, I can’t really hellp you. Good luck!

The only real reason, I can think of going used over new, besides price, is if you don’t want to feel that bad if you lay it down… Other than that if you can take a friend or a pro with you to check out the bike, do so.

It’s also much easier to find a used one. Where I am, there are no new ninja 250s at any of the dealers, u gotta waitlist for months and pay an extra $700 premium just to get one.
