Participant“As a noob I have to look at my speedo to know my speed.”
Dude, ATGATT. Don’t ride just wearing a speedo. A) it is gross and
absolutely no protection. I don’t even want to know how looking at your jock can indicate speed.

ParticipantYeah, those 1100s are severely underpowered.

ParticipantYou could go with a Ninja and get a actionpacker. Four well place holes drilled into it with some eyebolts to go on the strap hooks and you have a funtional and removable trunk.

ParticipantIf you couldn’t tell, Spaz bought a bike with ABS. My wifes scooter has ABS (suprisingly). I actually feel better knowing that she isn’t going to accidently stoppie.

ParticipantI would learn on a bike without it just so you don’t get used to having it there. No harm in getting on a bike with ABS after riding one without, but get on one without after learning on one that does have it, you might be more inclined to grab a hand full of brake and take a dive.

ParticipantYou could always change it yourself. But the economy does need stimulation, so. . .

ParticipantThe ninja handles well at 80mph. Not that I would know (the limit here is 70mph) ; ).

ParticipantA lot of bikes have forums dedicated to them with a plethora of mechanical knowledge. Do a google search on your bike and see if there is one out there. A lot of times they have easier ways of doing things than are in the service manuals.

ParticipantA few people on here have the CL-15 in various paints. It is a good helmet. good venting. I frequently ride in 90+ temps and I don’t recall ever thinking it was too hot.

ParticipantI have the quest pants and they are for cooler weather. Anything over 80 degrees and they are pretty hot, but they fit great as overpants and I can’t wait until it cools down so I can start wearing them again. I also have some mesh fieldsheer pants that are okay as overpants, but keep you really cool and they are heavily armored.

ParticipantLoud pipes are so annoying. I mean, do you want to be that person that people roll their eyes at. One day there was a Harley two cars in front of me (driver was wearing flip flops, shorts, and a tank top), I had ear plugs in, and my head still felt like it wanted to explode. It was impairing my ability to hear what was going on around me and even my ability to hear my own bike. It was worse than annoying, it was dangerous.

Participantadjust your wrist position on the throttle. I am betting that you are bending your wrist down when you get on the bike. try and grab the throttle with a straight wrist or slightly bent upward. it will stop those accidental throttle pulls when you turn or pull in the break.

ParticipantI drive 70-80mph on my commute (except when stuck in traffic), You can wind it past that. It is pretty suprising. I get about 65-70mpg at those speeds too. I would say that the Ninja 250 is an excellent commuter. I have found that by paying attention and expecting the dumbest thing possible will keep you out of trouble and no need for escaping acceleration. I have only experienced on escape with speed situation and that was on the secondaries.
