Hey, I’ll go too. Although getting to California would be an obstacle and I would probably be tired from the cross country trip. Well, maybe one of these days. “I am the best I am at what I do, and what I do ain’t nice.”-Wolverine

Physics and astronomy. I really like those subjects so I would recommend courses in those. English Lit is fun too.

Oh, you mean Motorcycle courses! The MSF beginner course and check out the Idiot’s Guide to Motorcycling from your library.

The price is dependent on where you get it (if you can find it). Here in TN, again if you can find one, they still sell for MSRP, with tax, title, and dealer cost it would probably run close to 4-4.2k. I would get to a dealer and get wait listed for the ’09 if you want a new bike. Used would be your best bet but you probably won’t find a used ’08.

It has more to do with the rake and handle bars. The rake reduces the turning radius. The higher handle bars make pushing on them a little more difficult. There is some geometrical calculation you can do involving the contact and its distance in relation to whear the fork and the tire intersect too. The greater the difference the harder to turn it. It basically all comes down to putting the weight over the front tire. The greater the angle of the weight from vertical from the front tire, the harder it is to get leverage and lean.

I think I have seen a drawing that explains it better than I can but I forget where. But it all comes down to leverage.

The guy across the street told me not to get a 250 Ninja. He said I would out grow it in a couple of months. His first bike was an R6 and he said that a 600cc bike would be fine. I told him about the gas mileage and he asked me how far I was going to be riding it. I told him it was a 25 minute commute. His response was that 25 miles is too far to ride a motorcycle, anything over 10 would wear me out. Yeah, If I am hanging on for dear life on an R6. Sure I catch myself having a death grip on the Ninja at times. Especially on the interstate, in the rain, when I am getting blown all over the road, or a combination of those, but I am pretty sure I could go on a longer ride. That guy sold his bike because he didn’t ride it much.

The guy brought in his gear and I saw it after work today. He did have gloves on but the were only leather on the fingers and palms and they didn’t protect the tops of his hands as he was sliding. His helmet was scraped up really bad from thin chin bar up to the top on the right side. The shield was torn off and the base for the shield was ground almost all the way down on one side. His jacket looks pretty good except for the giant hole over the armer in his shoulder and some wear on the right elbow. He said he hit the breaks and then doesn’t remember until he realized that what he was seeing was the ground moving below him. He had on leather lace up casual shoes and they held up really well with only minor scuffing.

If he would have had on anything less than a full face helmet, he probably would have broken his jaw and would have lost a lot of face, pun intended.

Two broken brake levers, bent the muffler, broke a mirror, and scratched it up pretty bad. He somehow managed to bend the key. He is going to take it back down to the scooter shop to get it fixed. It is a Genuine Buddy 125.

I am going to miss the looks it got in the parking lot being parked between my Ninja and a big yellow Harley.

They were out of ’08s when I called every shop in town. After the good council of the people here, I decided that used was probably better and that I wouldn’t have to wait. That being said, I wanted the blue ’08 so bad. Your a lucky guy.

This was done before I got it, so I am not sure.

Yeah, mine had the sprocket adjustment done for lower RPM’s, so she doesn’t screem as much. But man does she like to scream.

This looks a lot like the one I saw: http://tinyurl.com/5kmcfo

I don’t think that trikes are all that safe either. I think the two wheels upfront is safer and those piaggio things look pretty cool and the Spyder looks really interesting.

I was trying to explain this to my wife yesterday. She just got a 50cc scooter and was having problems on curves and turns. she doesn’t trust the lean and she doesn’t trust the push.

I have a Ninja 250 and I am at 8,000 RPMs at 80mph in 6th. considering it redlines at 14,000 RPMs, I would say it has a whole lot left to give. I haven’t tried, really why would I need to go over 80? I may move up, but right now I don’t see why I would need to or want to. Cruiser’s tend to have a bigger is better mentality.

Another thing to consider is gas mileage. That 1,100cc bike is going to eat up a lot of gas.

I tend to start the bike, adjust the choke, and put my gear on while adjusting the choke. By the time I am ready to go, the choke is usually off and the bike is ready to go too. I haven’t experienced anything colder that 65 yet though.

The gear can be pretty much the same just in different colors. Check out this jacket, you have to buy the armor seperately. http://www.newenough.com/protective_apparel/leather_jackets_and_pants/first_gear/honcho_leather_motorcycle_jacket.html

Gloves come in all black as well. You can do full face on a cruiser but you might try a solid color.
