Keep your eyes open. With the economy the way it is people are going to be ditching bikes cheap. Look on CL everyday and you are bound to find a great deal.
BuddParticipantHad a 2005 250 ninja. Now have a kawasaki green wrist cast. Will be sporting my wife’s 50cc generic scooter until she comes around to letting me get another bike.
BuddParticipantTwo up is harder riding. Without giving my wife’s weight, I have had a total of about 300lbs on my ninja 250. It was sluggish starting off but handled the weight well. A 250 will do it but you won’t win any races. Whatever you end up getting, get used to the bike for a while before putting a passenger on.
BuddParticipantpretty bike though.
BuddParticipantmy poor ninja, I miss her so.
BuddParticipantthe are military issue cold weather boots. They were great on and off the bike.
BuddParticipanta guy at work is also trying to sell me on a harley. The sportster xr1200 argument is really a good one. That is a beautiful bike.
BuddParticipantAll the cortech jacket needed was a patch on the elbow and it would have looked good as new, almost. My arms and back didn’t have a mark on them. my shoulder was stiff the next day where I rolled, but I didn’t have any bruises.
My wife has a scooter and has ridden it on occasion, but she has no love for riding.
BuddParticipantnope, hit and run. The area I was in has a lot of illegals and they are usually uninsured and hardly ever stop at accidents due to our police being able to run their imigration status and deport them.
It is a reaaly busy area with a bunch of places entering the road at different spots. I was just paying attention to the wrong ones. Day after Christmas probably wasn’t the smartest time to ride.
Once the wrist heals I will be out on the wife’s scooter.
I swear, the interstate is the safest place to ride.
BuddParticipantjinxed myself, more later.

BuddParticipantI know what it is, but I don’t have the time to commit to playing it or any other video game at the moment. Come on lottery, make my life full of fun.

BuddParticipantIt is important to change your oil as directed for break in. Breaking in means that metal parts are rubbing on metal parts and you will get metal shavings in the oil. If you are looking for alternate methods, I would google motoman’s breake in method.

BuddParticipantI can only say that I ride, and that I haven’t died from doing so.

BuddParticipantThe best situation would be a locker room where you work so that you can change. Bathrooms kinda suck for that. In the summer I would just pack my work clothes in my back pack or in my action packer and get dressed at work. Fall/spring you can wear what you would normally wear, but with gear on top. Winter you are going to be going with more layers than you normally wear. Wear boots and just keep you work shoes in desk drawer.
You will need to keep a brush at work and possibly a towel and some deodorant for those hot summer days.
