Make sure to get an insulated glove. Windproof works great for a few miles but your hands will still get very cold in them. An insulating liner will keep the cold out and the warmth in. You can buy thin silk liners as a form of insulation on gloves that don’t have any.

Keep the Katana, but buy yourself a ninja 250 on the cheap. If you FIL asks you tell him that you don’t want to mess up his nice work and you plan on giving the ninja to his daughter. The ninja has great resell value. A few months on the Ninja will make the Katana much more manageable. both bikes will fit in one space easily and your apartment should not have a problem with it.

You will get plenty of practice on those this weekend. I would have to say, the high speed stop section is the most beneficial of the MSF.

In a situation like that, you probably hit the rear brake too hard. I am guessing that you use the rear brake quite a bit and don’t use the front brake that much. I say that because you were across the intersection before you got the front to engage. I use my front brake more than my back brake. I don’t mean in percentages, I mean situationally. The front brake is my primary break and I only use the back when slowing down in a hurry or stopping.

I sat on one this past weekend. It seems like it has pretty good suspension. It should be really comfortable to ride on. It has a paddle shifter on the left hand grip. no clutch. The guy said that you could get them with a clutch though. It only has one brake and that is a pedal brake. It is a combination job, so it works front and rear, but I think I would prefer a brake lever. The thing has a reverse. It is a necessity as you couldn’t back it up otherwise. It has a trunk up front that is large enough to carry a jacket, pants, boots, and a helmet. The guy told me it was 16k. I said, “whoa!” He misunderstood, “I know, cheap, right?”

I really felt like I was on a four wheeler.

I am only 5’7″ so I didn’t notice if the pegs were a little high or not. It was taller, but well balanced. It is a sport tourer. I wish I had the 650 to compare it too. I have a felling I will really like the 650. Also sat on the spyder. That thing is all kinds of tricked out. 16k is way too much for me though.

What is the point of taking a turn if you aren’t going to accelerate out of it. I would never be in neutral in a turn and I would always be geared so that my gas moves me when I need it to.

I have had something get in there. It seemed to be more of a crawler and was crawling on my face. it was really annoying.

Actually people doing dumb stuff rarely requires emergency action. It usually just involves slowing down. It really does become a 6th sense. It is almost funny how accurate it is. Just remember that all the cars, trucks, and SUVs are actively trying to take your life and you should be good.

What do you mean by scare? Do you mean someone doing something dumb and putting your life in danger or do you mean almost being in an accident? I was assuming the first. I think you may be referring to the latter. If you are paying attention then the latter should be a rare occurance. The prior is almost a daily occurance.

With 500 miles, If you haven’t had a scare yet A) you only drive in very very light traffic or B) you are not paying attention. You can be safe as you want all day long, but that doesn’t make anyone else safe. Having good awareness and a 6th sense helps you see these acts of retarded driving, but these acts still happen. Keep payine attention.
