So this weekend I went bike shopping.

All the dealers were sold out of everything 600cc and below. Even the Rebels were backordered. I managed to find one dealer 20 miles out of town that was getting a black Honda Rebel 2009. I quickly ran over there and put a deposit down and got my name locked onto it :)

I can’t wait until the dealer gets it in, so I can pay the rest and they can deliver the bike to me. Worst part is also waiting to finish the MSF at the end of September. The wait is making me so impatient LOL.

As far as gear I am ordering:

    a. HJC CL-15 Black Helmet. Full face (http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/1/38/5320/ITEM/HJC-CL-15-Solid-Helmet.aspx)

    b. Xelement Leather/Cordura Armored Jacket combo (https://www.leatherup.com/site/product?pid=41459). I have a full leather jacket already so was looking for a lighter one.

    c. Alpinestar gloves (http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1=&L2=&L3=&L4=&item=ASR_356-627-10-SM_G&tier2=24)

I am still looking for some good over pants but might get these soon (http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/1/40/13682/ITEM/Scorpion-Deuce-Pants.aspx).

    Woot just sharing my excitement.

And not being able to ride. My MFS course isn’t until the 20th. I’m still going to take the test for my permit(again for the 2nd time)
tomorrow morning. So, I am left here salivating away. Can’t even crank it up without riding anymore since I learned the hard way that will kill your battery…quick! I re charged the battery again. Sort of glad it happened because I got to play Moto-mechanic.
Hopefully, I will be test riding tomorrow. I’ve had enough practice in my driveway.. I’m ready for the big time. The old parking lot.

So what did you do to kill the battery?

is the same as leaving your car radio on or headlights on without cranking the motor to let the alternator recharge the battery for the next crank. It takes a lot of juice to crank an engine. When the battery doesn’t re charge and you continually crank up the engine without riding it. It will eventually kill the battery. I had to use my car and 2 jumpers to juice the battery back up again. I heard that is common thing with moto’s.

You can get some nice armored pants for between $50-60 if you really wanted to save some $$$

I have the quest pants and they are for cooler weather. Anything over 80 degrees and they are pretty hot, but they fit great as overpants and I can’t wait until it cools down so I can start wearing them again. I also have some mesh fieldsheer pants that are okay as overpants, but keep you really cool and they are heavily armored.

A few people on here have the CL-15 in various paints. It is a good helmet. good venting. I frequently ride in 90+ temps and I don’t recall ever thinking it was too hot.

Both myself and the Wife have CL-15s and are happy with them.

I had a more expensive HJC AC-11 before, but although the shell is made from a different material, the CL-15 feels the same to me and is both DoT and Snell certified; just like the AC-11.

I don’t think the venting is that great and HJC helmets are a bit wind-noisy, but great value and as safe as anything else on the market I believe. As I always ride with earplugs, the noise doesn’t bother me much.

Are those pants meant to be worn over a first pair?
I am looking to wear some riding pants over my work pants when I need to.
