Watch your throttle hand position. Start with your wrist bent like you are doin a push up or at the very least straight. That way if you hit the throttle a little hard or pop the clutch when the bike pulls away you won’t accidently give it more gas and end up on your back.

Get the 250. you will be able to flat foot it and that will help with your confidence. I agree that the blue ’08 is a beautiful bike, but I would get a used bike. Heck, I did get a used ninja 250.

The triumph street triple comes in Kawi green I think. That is one mean looking bike. http://www.triumph675.net/images/StreetTriple-1280_000.jpg

According to this thread, there is a trick with balancing it on the rear peg to keep it off of the muffler: http://forums.ninja250.org/viewtopic.php?p=594932#594932

I have hair on my head and on my chest. Is the Ninja 250 right for me?

Sorry, this thread title reminded me of that Old Spice hair and body wash commercial.

The wind gets me too, but you get used to it. Make sure your tires are properly inflated and get lower on the bike, this can be facilitated by scooting your butt back farther. I think wind gets most bikes though. I have a friend with one of those police Harleys (800lbs) and he says it still blows him around.

It is an “05 with the duel exhaust. I hang it from the D ring facing backwards and the lower edges of the helmet rest on the exhaust.

From experience, do not downshift into first at 15-20mph even if the rpms are below 5k in second. You will lock up the back tire. Scary! Dumb rookie mistake, won’t happen again. When approaching a stop I tend to shift down while breaking, leaving it in second until I know I will have to actually come to a stop. Then, when I know the car behind me stops and if the light is long you can slip it into neutral. First will make a distinctive sound, so you you should know when you are not there.

I have the same bike. Mine is silver. I really like it. Very forgiving bike.

I have seen the power puff bike but the pink ktm with the skirt, boots, and teddy bear is just classic.

Thanks for the link and advise. I have full gear, Cortech FSX textile jacket, Tourmaster Quest textile pant, Power trip street unit gloves, HJC CL-15 helmet, and a full leather pair of combat boots. The pants seem a little hot though. I put my work pants in my backpack on the ride and my legs are soaked when I change. They should be nice when it starts getting cooler though. The jacket is great. It has a lot of vents and keeps me plenty cool at 35mph at 90 degree temps.

It sits a little higher and is bigger (engine wise) but not so big.

I like it. it pushes my cheeks in a little more than I like but it feels great. It is DOT/Snell.
