I was invisible at the Harley Dealer, and a couple of Kawaski’s. And, the Vulcan I must agree, even as height challenged as I am, what a sight to behold. With the eyes and between the legs. It wasn’t quite as a perfect fit for me as is the Shadow Aero. Now that’s a vision of perfection.

smokeizfireParticipantThe DMV motorcycle hand book tells you that, at least in the state of California. Anything less is considered tailgating.

smokeizfireParticipantWhat state are you in? Here in southern california, variety in low cc motos is the challenge. I visited 5 dealerships in 3 days. They all had that dang honda rebel. 1 had the 500 ninja which I don’t expect to see again this year. I went to my dealer today and they had about 3 GT 250 Rs. Maybe 3 GT 250 naked. And, 1 GV 250 Aquilla(I bought the other one they had). Did I see any 250 Ninjas at the Kawasaki dealer. No not one. So I guess it depends on what ur looking for. Most people are looking for names. And if you don’t believe that, just ask most of the Harley and BMW guys. Some guys want the bigger engine that they can’t handle, just to impress other bikers. I was looking to spend the least I could for a first bike, juggling comfort, size, weight, and of course looks. I got burnt by a Lancer today but hey, if I wanted to race I would have bought a R1 instead.

smokeizfireParticipant..when someone dies prematurely by actions such as those which caused the 2 teens to pass away. When you are young, you feel invincible. Natural selection in my opinion is example, a baby dying from SIDS, or some one who dies from some disease like leukemia, sickle cell, or lupus; or even old age. Natural, I thought meant. no additives(like botox, silicon, or penal implants).. You subtract the bike from the equation and we all may have been blogging about another topic right now. Just my opinion. Like an @sshole, everybody has one. And most of them stink!

smokeizfireParticipant..maybe it’s just my bike but I haven’t had that problem. I’ve only been riding for 3 days on a permit(111 miles all city), but the foot brake seem more synonymous with the foot brake in a car. The front brake seem similar to the front brake on a pedal bike. I guess since I use to do a lot of both(still drive a lot, but not in the past 3 days.), braking isn’t my Achilles heel. Try pumping the foot brake. That may work until you learn how to gauge pressure steadily to both brakes.

smokeizfireParticipantI had the bike for a week and 2 days. The bike is awesome. I get looks everywhere I go, from cars to peds. Even the Harley guys give a 1/10 of a sec glance…until they notice it’s too small to be a HD. Then, they just look away in utter disgust.

smokeizfireParticipantis the same as leaving your car radio on or headlights on without cranking the motor to let the alternator recharge the battery for the next crank. It takes a lot of juice to crank an engine. When the battery doesn’t re charge and you continually crank up the engine without riding it. It will eventually kill the battery. I had to use my car and 2 jumpers to juice the battery back up again. I heard that is common thing with moto’s.

tomorrow morning. So, I am left here salivating away. Can’t even crank it up without riding anymore since I learned the hard way that will kill your battery…quick! I re charged the battery again. Sort of glad it happened because I got to play Moto-mechanic.
Hopefully, I will be test riding tomorrow. I’ve had enough practice in my driveway.. I’m ready for the big time. The old parking lot.HE WHO DIES WITH THE MOST TOYS WINS
smokeizfireParticipant…when I was shopping for bikes, a lot of the bikes that were listed for $12,000-$13,000 on the internet were marked way down at an actual dealership. I mean like $4-5,000 down at every dealership I went to(except Harley Davidson). I bet they didn’t have a lot of the smaller bikes there, either? A lot of dealers I’ve been to were clearly trying to make room for their new inventory. After all, it is the end of the year. Don’t know if you went to a dealership or if you are buying from a private seller. But I do know is this web site urges everyone to steer clear of bikes under 600cc. So, you are about 400ccs over ain’t you? If you don’t believe the information on this site…..here’s another

smokeizfireParticipantWill do. I bought the bike because it looked good, light weight, the price, and the 2 year warranty(since the Manufacturer is virtually unknown in the states). I wanted a Vulcan 900 Custom 1st, but my research took me to the Hyosung. This article, from ’05, in particular
http://www.motorcyclecruiser.com/roadtests/250cc_cruiser_comparison/index.html
I think Hyundai is Korean, too. I wouldn’t have bought it if the warranty wasn’t for 2 years, and they give you $300 rebate on the bike with an MSF Certification. The dealers were friendlier and less shark-ish than the ones at Kawasaki or Yamaha, telling me 900 and 1100s were good for beginners. Actually the dealer at Hyosung told me that for my size, any of the other bikes I wanted may have been too heavy, and or powerful. Even his GV650 or Yamaha’s(next bike) V-Star 650 cruiser. After sitting on the GV650, compared to the 250 weight wise, I had to agree with him.
Another note, in my research I always looked on YouTube to see them live before I bought one. Internationally, there were a lot of post. All of the owners seem very proud of their 250s.
