I’ve read and heard from my local dealer that Kawasaki is raising the price of their 2009 Ninja 250r $500 more from an 08′ model. The price will put them in competition with other bikes now and personally this price increase makes their Ninja 500r more desirable.

I didn’t see a ninja 250, 500r, 650r on the floor ever. But I’d love to sit on one just to see how it feels for someone of my 6’0 185lb stature.

I did have a chance to sit on a 08′ Honda Nighthawk, 08′ Suzuki S40, and the Kawasaki KLX 250s at my dealer the other day. This was the most beginner bikes I’ve ever seen at a dealership. I’m personally leaning towards the S40 due to its higher displacement. I’m thinking that maybe it will pull away from traffic quicker than the Nighthawk or KLX ? I’m not so sure.

I think the price increase makes it a 4K bike now which is a big difference from the 3K price tag on the ’07. They probably figure that demand is high enough.

I heard of a $4,000 price tag a little while ago, which was one reason I was considering an 08 – used or new. A $500 increase definitely put me off to the idea of getting a new one next year. The $3500 MSRP of an ’08 ended up being like $5200 OTD at the dealers around here. So add $500 to that for an ’09, and that’s too much me. I think that may help the resale value of used ninjas for the beginner though.
