Throttle problem

Hi all, My wife’s Vstar 250 is having a problem with the engine cutting out when you twist the throttle. It doesn’t matter how long we let it warm up, its the same thing. It seems to be running strong, then you give it a little gas and it stalls. If you really twist it, it will rev with out stalling, but that doesn’t help as we’re not looking to floor it all the time.
A few details that might be attributing to it. One, the bike hasn’t been ridden that much since we got it and is still on the same tank of gas. So, I was wondering about the possibility of bad gas, however, it has only been a couple of months now, and it has been ridden once or twice a week every week. Granted they were not long rides, but it was out and moving around. Two, would be that it has been dropped once. I don’t know how or what would have gotten messed up as, from what I recall, the bike ran fine after it was dropped. But, thats the only thing I can think of besides bad gas.
Any suggestions would be great. And to answer the obvious question, yes, I could call the dealership, but besides the guilt I feel for the bike not being ridden that much, its also an hour away and a PITA to get the bike there.
Thanks in advance.

I had an issue with sputtering on my virago250 and it turned out to be a bad tank of gas ( I think anyway ) after the next refill from a better know gas station and changing my spark pulgs I have not had the issue again.
