The first time I rode my bike to work some of my co-workers who didn’t know that I got a motorcycle commented on how cute my hair was with the little flip at the ends. I had straight ironed my hair totally straight so the helmet made the ends flip and people liked it! So, helmet hair works for me. I really lucked out.

I vote for shaving your head.

Will do! Glad to know it’s possible to survive a high-side. Was there anyone else on the road to see this and did they stop to make sure you were ok?

Have a discussion with your parents, show them this line of discussion we have been having and just see what they have to say. They sound pretty down to earth since they said you can’t ride until you finish a year of college, they are probably hoping this is some kind of “phase” but, probably you will still want to ride, so just relax, don’t get all defensive by our comments, a lot of us have some experience that we are speaking from. One guy just went down this morning, you should read it.

Do you think all of us were not jazzed when we decided we wanted to ride? Hell, I was a total spazoid saying that I was going to get a brand new Triumph and blah, blah, blah, ride to Canada whatever, well, once you research, get your head out of the clouds, and take the class and start riding you realize that riding a motorcycle is dangerous and it’s better to be scared and riding than overconfident and riding, overconfidence kills.

Well maybe not scared exactly but afraid to die, or something, wary, whatever you want to call it.

Take care, have fun in college.

Thanks for sharing and I’m so glad you came out without even a scratch! This inspires me to get some proper riding pants. Take care and again so good to hear you are in one piece!

Is that like a highside you did or not really? I have been worried about that.

Also, when you get to college, enroll for Common Sense 101 – PLEASE!

This site has been very valuable to me as a beginner rider. Go to your MSF class, they are “safety freaks” as well. It’s cooler to be a safety freak than DEAD. Obviously you are very young in body and mind so you think you are invincible, don’t learn the hard way that you are not. Good luck!

I can’t beleive you dropped your Dad’s bike, I was cringing for you. You listed the Honda Nighthawk as a possiblity and I rode that one in my MSF class last year, I liked it so much I had my heart set on buying one new but there were none in the state of illinois that were new and for sale so i did not end up with that but I really liked it, they don’t seem as popular as the NINJA though.

I would have to call them right now and ask them exactly what are they charging you for and what did they do to the bike. Then go from there.

I think this is my choice, love the orange color. 900 cc seems a bit much for me at the moment though. Well, I can store it. OR I could try a NINJA, I can see myself on a sport bike, used to hate them before I started riding but I have a newfound respect for them now. Yeah!!!!!! m/

I don’t know what state you are in but I’m in Illinois and last year when I was looking for a 250 there were ZERO at any dealers and I was wondering the same thing because I don’t see any 250’s on the road and everyone I know has a 1000cc or higher.

I think that dealers in my area only order like one or two 250’s and that’s it and all the rest of the 250’s must be in California. Don’t quote me, I’m only guessing.

    :)

As I was reading the comments of ryan207 I was thinking you were joking, are you? I was laughing and then I realized there was no JK at the end and everyone seems to think you are serious so, here are my thoughts:

Good idea about starting out on the 250
    Can the strict schedule
    Forget wheelies and stoppies
Not sure about riding to Florida, I thought I would ride to Canada from Chicago but have decided I’m not ready
Napping on a park bench after you eat???? No, you don’t need a nap.

LOL, this one really just made me crack up! You are too funny!

AND – YOU ARE DYING TO RIDE????? Holy shit! This should be on a wall of quotes somewhere.

Congratulations! It makes getting up to go to work way more exciting than it used to be!
