I’m wanting something that gets good fuel economy, and since i have never riden a motorcycle before i want something i can learn on. I was looking at the ninja 250r but Im afraid it wont haul me around. I’m a tick over 6′ and almost 300 lbs. Any suggestions on any bike to point me in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks

Are you looking at the new 250 ninjas or planning on getting an older one? The new ones are selling pretty quick. As far as weight wise goes I think you would be alright. My friend has a new one and is about your weight. He adjusted the preloader for the shocks to make them a little stiffer because of his weight. Height wise I am not sure how the ergonomics would be for you but I don’t know if you have sat on one and got a feel for it or just looked at them online.

yea i love the way the new ones look. I went to a local kawasaki shop and they were sold out of 250’s but he was trying to talk me into a 650r, but i dont want anything that expensive to learn on

It sits a little higher and is bigger (engine wise) but not so big.

    Some others to consider:

    Kawasaki Vulcan 500
    Buell Blast
    Suzuki S40

Not sport bikes, but all good beginner bikes for someone who wants a little more juice than a 250.
