Hmmm….awesome find….. before i take out the wallet….. cold air usually = smaller bladder…… whats the take off time for those..”I didn’t have to go when I left the house, but got to like a Russian race horse now” moments?

The way thats positioned I think your gonna need something like the Switchblade pegs for your feet…. that seems right over where your gonna need the leg room. Be careful with engine mods… as with all things it effects everything downstream, will it require rejetting to get said hp? Will you need to get higher flow exaust… I am stalling going to bed otherwise I would look it up. Just be forwarned. RESEARCH research and then….more research.

More air usually means more fuel needed which definitely turns into less mileage for your gas. There is very little room for adjustment with most things mechanical without effecting adjusting the other. Too much air and the mixture is wrong for combustion… same in reverse.

Just hit me…… betcha the “my bike got wet post” seems a tad un-important now huh….. j/k.

It definitely does not apply to bikes but the only hint I ever got from granddaddy was “If you buy a new car, taker her out and back into the mail box. Once she gets her first scratch you won’t be scared to drive her” .

Not really anything you could have or would have done differently… if it wasn’t that road it would have been another in some other situation. Take it for what it is .. .a lesson learned… should you avoid another road that has leaves on it…. nope. Just ne wary of what you can face and becareful. Which sounds like you learned and actually knew. Shit Happens… Cowboy up and go at it again with a twist.
    OH YEA……scratches = character ;^)

I love the blacked out pipes… I am not much for chrome these days. I am just not liking the two tone…. maybe if they’d done it in a dark blue or something. Anything but the Pontiac Red interior color. And yes I would say your PoV is near correct on the descriptions. I have had my days of speed and loudness…. my ears are sensitive to really high pitched sounds,,, heck I give a co-worker that “what were you thinking” pop in the back of the head every time he decided to imitate his bike with his stories. That and the squids of the 90’s from highs schools have given me a stigma about sport bikes… countless times of a loud scream with 20 mph movement.
I am getting back ok with them though……the B-mer bikes are higher on my hate list at the moment… seems the bigger………. personalities seems to ride them here.

Closer to the second kind…though there are many designs out there… research into it. Maybe you can leave a Bike Rag on the table or something that gives subtle hints … or even books …. Many on here have mentioned some great books that would give them the implication that you are looking to learn to ride correctly and safely. Heck even one night before bed leave this site up in a window in hopes that they see the last thing you looked at. I know if my daughters were seriously looking to start riding and I can see that they are looking into the safety more then “Trick weekly” I would be more inclined to listen.

Also every step you take in educating yourself…get your parents involved… get their feedback now while its still an option… let them go through the process with you so you can answer their questions as they come up …for them and you.
I went through jitters myself…. anticipation is worse then anything…. you mind can come up with every negative scenario imaginable. As young as you are…try for a dirt bike or scooter… get some experience of sorts under your belt… and grabbing an opportunity to prove to your parent (and yourself) that are being safe and responsible.

Assuming your not riding an 800+lbs behemoth….. depends on what side… I will have to look through some videos again but I think U-tube had a good one thats very helpful. If you are on the behemoth… hopefully there are some well meaning concerned citizens there to help you.

Real biker name no…..but everyone calls me by my screen name I use on here. Had it for quite a few years…. fixing to get it put on my Jacket in reflective lettering. I work to much to ride enough to be considered a real biker. Tuesday through Saturda…. 7am til last car is done… somewhere between 10 to 13 hours….. such is the life of a mechanic.

Cool you got the 900…. I thought about that being my next step up…. But reading some Kawi forums I am getting the impression its not much more capable the my V500. You having any under powered issues? Like now I have no troubles getting the V500 up to the 3 digit mark (relax guys wasn’t intentional, had to out run an RV coming down an on ramp). Reading some of the forums they were having a hard time with it. I am not looking for a speed demon at all but I would like to know that if I am gonna go in for another $3k for the upgrade I am gonna get that back in performance.

Sorry didn’t see this. Saddle bags are easy to find… you can use just about any. Kawasaki makes saddle bag supports and also come with a relocation kit for the license plate and signals to accommodates for bigger bags. I have 11x9x6 on my V500. THey are enough to hold my rain gear on one side and miscellaneous stuff on the other. I did not need to use the relocating kit for the signals. You can also look at places like Scootworks.com and others for them. Your dealer should also be able to help you.

The Meanie!!!…. I sat on one of those while waiting for them to finish servicing my Vulcan 500. When I am ready to make that big of a jump in size its gonna be hard to decide between the StreetBob and the Meanie. Only thing I don’t like on the Meanie is the color scheme. I am not ready for an 1100 cc jump though ….. not yet.
Oh yea and those “cruiser/choppers” …yea they are strictly show. The longer the stretch the impossible to turn. These were designed to look good ….not to ride. I am not liking the one that looks like it has a surfboard stuck on the side…. makes me wanna look for wood paneling. At a bike show in the local HD dealer here they had a stretched and slammed custom….. they took a 7 point turn just to get it to 90 degrees for parking. Purdy..not practical.
Sport bikes….. well maybe I just don’t get it but they all seem like silhouettes of each other… size varies and guts varies of course but they all seem to share the exact same shaping. I guess same can be said for cruisers though.

with Sangria!!…However I personally have mentioned the difference in performance here on BBM and so have several others. But it was nice of you to bring it up again to keep it on the front pages. It is one that sometimes does not get its own topic but you end up finding the info meandering through replies in other “beginner bike help!” type posts.
