Most absolutely and definitely take it back to that dealership, make them earn your trust back… if they cannot under reasonable effort then I would either ask for a replacement bike or total refund and go elsewhere. I know with the bike being brand new being furious and such is first round of emotions. Ask them what their process is for delivery.. do they assemble it or does another company/warehouse do it and they just do a pre delivery check, inspection, or they have the whole kit and caboodle. Stand your ground , ask questions, demand honest answers, could be chalked up to human mistake, could be worse and be a shady dealer. Get facts to decide and not disappointed emotions.
At the risk of “are you serious?!” responses… I am an auto mechanic… I have seen just about everything under the sun as far as imperfections go with new and used cars,,, some are able to be explained as “Oh $h1T” moments that a brain fart could cause-and your the unlucky recipient , some are 5:00 Friday situations that never should happen. Its up to you for your comfort of trust to help you decide with the information you get.
    “will you feel safe again?”
“Did they give you enough cause to trust them again?”
“Did they have a reasonable explanation?”

Either way you go make sure you let information help get you to a conclusion. Not raw emotion. Liking the bike too much can be just as bad as jumping to the conclusion that you got screwed.

Check the battery terminal connection…..pre delivery assembly looseness and vibrations could leave it connected enough to initially go but leave too much resistance at idle to keep fuel pump going. I had a similar problem… another thing could be as you mentioned with the rain is water in the fuel, a good product is Sea Foam, it is a conditioner, drier, and cleaner very good product.
    Hope it helps

I like the forward foot controls better myself….only feels natural to have the feet in front of me…. is how I sit in a car, couch , chair etc. . Sport bike types give me that “kid on the see-saw about to get a cherry bruise from the playground devil” feel. To much head first feel. I am sure I could get used to it…. heck I better…not sure what they use in MSF but got that in 2 weeks. But my Vulcan has me spoiled.

If my saddle bags were on I would have had them…..but I have to use a bungee cargo net and a gym bag for now…. worries me some times at 74 mph. The saddle bags will be on by the end of sunday though… after that …never again. Boots are on order though… lol the ones I have are no where near water proof

you would be surprised how much distance a lightning strike can arc across to get to a nearest ground… I mean it is jumping miles from the ground up ( science says anyways). Bigger puddles….not to bad since you have skinny tires….though I wouldn’t go searching for em…definitely keep firm grip if you HAVE to go through one, and slow down a touch.
Oh yea… new addition to the cons list…. beginning of major summer thunderstorm…. rain drops hit hard!!! lol…. worse then the Japanese beetles and lots more…lol.

maybe get her in on some of the MSF stuff you learned.. let her get to know what you were taught, learned and maybe she will convert. Let her read this site and many others to let her get a better feel of the reality of riders and not what the locak news reports on and/or the “hells angels” attitude that seems to get pinned on ya.
I got lucky… I was on the fence about getting my Vulcan… my better half pushed me closer to it :^) and she wonders why I call her perfect.

Man, if you only knew why my divorce happened…. that statement would have never been made :^/ . Jerry Springer anyone?

Atleast the bike goes when you push the right buttons and rarely complains when you tell her its time to accessorize……

Anyone find it ironic that smoke has that sig…. and then comes out all commonsensical (new word!)?
Ok I am tired…. which Ninja is it? may make a difference…may not. Or did I miss something in my tired state of mind?

On August 27th, 2008 Loki says:

    “Wait what song?”

Does this mean I now need to find a walking cane holster for my bike? Man and just when I thought my wish list was near completion. :^) ask your parents…be forewarned… it will stick with ya.

MSF is not required for your endorsement… atleast not here in NC. and at $200+ a course… it would probly be not a far leap of faith that 60-70% of the riders here do not have that luxury. Not to mention that usually there is more heed given when the warnings and examples comes from friends and accomplished riders rather then trainers who are getting paid to tell you what you need to know. Doesn’t make sense, I know….but thats just way it seems to work out.
And if it were common sense…. there would be no need to have the MSF anyways.
    As a comedian once said…..
“If the people around us are setting the bar for “common sense” , WE are freaking geniuses”

Dang man you need to get your but back up this way…lol.

I agree with ya whole heartedly… there are lots of subjects I feel should be handled that way. Educate, educate, educate. All sides are debatable but atleast you go home knowing you did your part of presenting your side of the coin. No matter how staunch they are in what they think is right, you without a doubt will give them cause to pause… maybe even change their mind and save their life ( wether you think for good or bad…..just kidding).

I know the feeling… I knew every rope swing, dirt road and fishing hole in three counties…. half the fishing holes are parking lots… the place I grew up is no longer a house but one building of an entire apartment complex, the horse pasture where I learned to drive a car doesn’t exist, is now a parking lot…to the complex. I feel your pain. I am just patiently waiting for the corporate locusts to run out of resources and tax breaks then they can leave .

When you boil it down the law is only as good as the people who follow them, disagree?…. I’ll let you debate it with a murderer or drunk with multi convictions. No matter what laws are there you still have the choice, it’s only paper work after all. Though the consequences can and are likely more permanent.
