I am using Firefox…and still haven’t seen it…. never asks for the random generated code or anything…… what am I doing different…. .check that… dont wanna know… if it aint broke (yet) dont fix it.
MunchParticipantOk seen t his a couple of times…. and since I dont have this problem …. WTH is “CAPTCHA” ? Apparantly a basic browser does not have this. Guess there is beauty in simplicity?
MunchParticipantOh I am sure your correct. Probly more for weight distribution being that the bikes have such power displacement to weight….. atleast in my logic it makes sense to put more weight forward to keep the front down aided by the aero-dynamics of fairing and rider. Aesthetically for me…. it just reminds me of bugs. The smaller tail….maybe a spoiler of types to catch the “curling” turbulence and get some down force on the rear tire?
V-Rod…. never have or ever will consider it a cruiser. Nor the Vmax. Muscle bikes is a category in of their own.MunchParticipantGood mix of machines there! Have to say that Diavel is probly a better looking sports type bike then I have seen. The one thing that always turns me off about them is all the fairing in the front and the skinny azz rear. Always leaves me thinking….. grasshopper…or wasp…. like your friends RR. That Diavel has a little bit more to it in the rear leaving it to look like a balanced ride. Though looks are always deceiving, it’s just my preference for a bike to look balanced.
MunchParticipantNow how the hell am I supposed to have an engaging conversation when you dont give me something to disagree with?
MunchParticipantummm yea… nevermind in that first video that the Dummy still gets unseated and near hangs himself on the windshield anyway. Was a helluva upper cut from a direction the helmet is not designed to protect you from. Yup still not convinced. To each their own I guess. Me personally….. TRAIN riders to Ride safely and alert. Educate automobile drivers about motorcyclists both DURING and AFTER drivers ed.
Both videos the rider is still screwed with or without the airbag. So instead of instilling more false sense of security ….. all the while charging an extra $8 grand on the price tag (guessing) PUT YOUR MONEY TO MSF and more gas money to PRACTICE AND TRAINING!
Added: Also curious as to why the air bag is chest level but in both after shots by the camera both cameras focused on the legs being broke…. ummm wha?
MunchParticipantLOL… I got whatcha meant and yea …for the most part can agree :^)
MunchParticipantAlthough for general society… I might could understand your thoughts….certainly easy to find it. However… I am such the contradiction to your thoughts. I grew up a “latch key” kid. Actually rural anywhere all of us pretty much were. My father died when I was 2 my mom held 2 jobs just to hold bills at bay. Never been in trouble with the law and though I do love my video games love playing out side.
My kids one just finishing drivers ed (help us all) and the youngest at 12 are both being brought up old school by myself and their mother. I tell them all the time when they ask why we are the way we are. My response…. your going to learn the value of value. Not just monetary but also in things that cannot be purchased. The oldest got the lesson of trust 2 years ago and how hard it is to get that back . Fortunately our methods have been relatively successful and the reason for the lesson was not for dangerous or overly dramatic reasons. The opportunity was not lost for a lesson taught. As a matter of fact you can find me telling my kids that my household different from their mothers is like that of a Native American PoV. I am not here to entertain or babysit you . I have 18 years of your life to teach and prepare you for the next 60+ years of your life. Doesn’t mean I don’t get down and play with or talk with them . However every moment a lesson can be found… will be a lesson taught.
IMO the “Let kids be kids” folks are more at the heart of the problem ’cause these folks have forgotten what kids of the generations past did. These are not limited to any generation either. But you got your butt up an hour before dawn, fed animals, done chores then off to school…. stay at school….come home to do homework and chores that were left unfinished. Then and only then if you had enough daylight left you were allowed to play…. variations in timing of course. However children had immense amounts of responsibility. Hell look at some of the reporting ages of the wars that have been fought. You give them no responsibilities and hold them accountable for it… they have no reason to be ambitious and strive for success… they will just sit and wait for what their used to getting… pampered.
Credit… well yea… I agree that is our own faults. Its easy to get duped into something when you want something bad. Thankfully I was taught from an older generation that if you cant pay for it with cash (with the exception of a house) then you really didn’t want it anyway or you would had saved up for it. Is why me and my significant other now debate the idea of buying our kids their first car. I am absolutely against it. IF they want it they will value it more if they have something invested in it such as their own money… too often growing up and even more now as a career mechanic I see and saw cars wrapped around various objects by kids and hearing the conversation following them being told it was totaled.. “Dont worry Timmy we’ll just have to get you another one”
MunchParticipantThe above was copied from a different forum… parenthesis is my own interjections.
MunchParticipantGeez MJ3 …. may as well just wash the darn thing while your at it so you can just get rain :^P .
Weather here is driving me nuts. We are getting our typical NC Spring Temperature Swing. 80 degrees one day 60 the next 30 after that…back up to 80….ugh. Wouldn’t be a problem if I didn’t work 12 hours a day. I get to miss prime riding temps, but not getting to hear everyone else enjoying it on their bikes as they motor past.
MunchParticipant“””Generally, NEVER brake in a corner except as a very last resort. Do all of your braking just before you get to the corner. An expert racer may use some back brake and less likely a tiny bit of front brake in part of a corner, but they risk a crash every time they do this. If you can, stand the bike up straight and go straight for a short distance in a corner, before using both brakes, then let the brakes off and steer to lean again.
If a street rider must brake in a corner to keep from hitting something, they will usually use a lot of back brake kept on until the bike stops, to make the bike low-side on purpose…..”””
Ofcourse this obviously does not cover rounding exit ramps to find ol’ silver hair thinking it’s Sunday morning and she is off to church instead of Monday morning and time for work. Draggin the rear brake will not always result in a low side…. please try to extend the explanation. There is a such thing as varying pressure for results. This is one part of MSF that aggravated me once I rode highway and really learned. The First time I had to ride to work I have a huge sweeping exit ramp to go around…. yes sport bike fans …. wide enough and long enough to drag a knee if you wanted…… Anyway I was going around and there was Grand ma …. in a Grand Marquis just toodlin along at 35 mph….me… 65 as the speed limit states (well really 60) and started getting a touch worried cause we were in the middle of the turn. Good lean going and started running through what I should or should not do. Only thing MSF tell you …stand the bike up, point straight and break. Ummmm no…not on a major interstate exit. Luckily getting past the noobish thoughts I decided to drag the rear brake to slow me down and VOILA!….got around all happy and safe. New riders….. please learn varying pressures with your scoot and how the bike reacts. It is NOT just on and off as some statements tend to suggest.
“”To be extra safe on a motorcycle, you can buy a Honda Goldwing with an optional airbag, but this motorcycle is much too big and very expensive for a beginner to start with:””This …. I still want to see a video of this… Air Bags on a motorcycle makes no sense to me. About the most I can think it would do is keep you from kissing the handle bars on your way over…. Unless its the same air bags the Mars Rover got to land on :^) .
MunchParticipantEuuwww a Doors song reference…… May as well take a spiritual lesson from Creed …or gun safety from Nirvanna…..
I kid….. well…just a little
MunchParticipantStill not sold on ABS on a motorcycle….nor Goldwings introduction of airbags
MunchParticipant“why are there carbs on the Ninja when the Hyosung is fuel injected?”
For the same reason that most automobiles have been running the same engine blocks for 20 year stretches at a time. Its easier to improve small cheaper aspects then it is to re tool a whole system.
Hyosung has something to prove and needs to add every upgraded anything they can to throw in there…never mind quality should be their first priority…but hey if you add enough bling, no starts might not be a big issue.
Kawi is an established company and only needs to improve just enough on their entry levels to keep things interesting. My V900 and my V500 were and are FI. Though the 500 got squashed. They were aiming for a more popular cc size riding group with the bigger 2 so it made sense to upgrade the fuel system. Below that and your in a niche market for what is likely “Lil Runarounds” and not expected for a long haul needing good fuel management.
MunchParticipantNumber one …relax. The wrist thing doesn’t help but unless your trying to run and gun through town for 4 hours your wrist should not be hurting at all. The lever adjustments will only help at stops and clutch control for leverage more then anything. You may also need to consider looking into handle bar risers with a pull back to get your arms in a more relaxed position to allow you to loosen your grip up a bit. I had to get a 2″ pull back on my Vulcan so I could allow my arms to bend a touch more and take the weight of my arm off my hands and wrists.
Depending on your riding habits and style would depend on recommendations. Check your reach, your arms should be able to be in a relaxed state. Try adjusting your starting position of your wrist for acceleration so you can account for the movement for when your in cruise stretches. That away your not under the grip or over reaching it. If its a muscular thing ….. workout the forearms with some simple weighted forearm curls. Or even forearm band or whatever their called…. like the tennis elbow folks wear. You can also look into a cramp buster. Though I don’t recommend it til after you get smoother on your take offs.
