KellisanthParticipant
Hello! Glad to hear you’re feelin’ better. I’ve always been a bit curious about folks who have had their hips replaced or knees worked on how they do riding bikes and such.
As for the Brute, just be careful of some of the Chinese bikes. I don’t recall seeing or reading about that brand in “What Bike?” (a UK magazine) thus cannot give a comment or more info than what you might have found when Googlin’.
Be safe!
KellisanthParticipantHello! I’ll be in Pittsburgh this weekend coming up, to visit friends.
If you ever get a chance, look at motorcycle shows * http://www.motorcycleshows.com/ *. Seriously. You can get some pretty good discounts on gear and buckets if you look around. And in many cases, not having to pay sales taxes too (in my case, 10.25% is TOO high – stupid Stroger)
Not only that, you can sit on many bikes and scooters (I should have spent more time there), talk with the various reps and riders for their thoughts/opinions on things.
Also, sometimes there might be some panels, such as gear, bikes and other stuff (there was a few for Women that I listened to – esp for those who are height/inseamed challenged).
The EX500 is a very nice bike to ride to be honest. If I didn’t live in this crazy stop-n-go city (too many stop signs/lights!), it would be more enjoyable!
KellisanthParticipantFireflies will be interesting at night too.
Of course, dive bombing birds aren’t fun either.
May 24, 2009 at 2:20 am in reply to: can you insure and register a motorcycle with a permit??? #18881KellisanthParticipantIn Chicago …
I registered my bike, and insured it (Progressive). Received my plates and city tag.
All I had was a permit at the time. 😮
The dealer never checked for the permit, nor did the Insurer ask for the Endorsement – or even if I took the MSF (or a Rider’s Course).
KellisanthParticipant*meep*meep*
And no, I don’t think they (deer “sirens”) really work…
Besides… is the “frequency” of those chinese things attuned to the deers audio hearing only?
Mind you, that’s just my thoughts and opinion.
And yeah, I had them on my car when I had one, when I lived in Missouri… On the roads in my lil’ town and on the roads to the airport going to work, I didn’t see that many deers… but they were there.
KellisanthParticipantHair? What hair?
Like RoboRabbit… I started getting thin after HS/College… Probably more so with work.
What I have left is mainly on the sides (think Picard).
Why worry about the hair, unless you’re going to work that day….
KellisanthParticipantHa… my text says…
“Code: GRNLT11 Cant access link? Take code 2 …”
And I can’t see the durn thing on my Palm Treo!
TYVM Elias for decoding the codes!
KellisanthParticipantI like my cargo pants. I need to switch the phone from the belt to something else though ‘cos its hard to zip up the jacket sometimes. And I really need to buy riding pants… 😮
The Icon mil-spec vest has a some pockets which is decent.
For the bike, I have a Dowco Rally Pack tank bag, but that’s presently unused. Haven’t figure out what to do with it yet or what to put in it, really.
KellisanthParticipantHehe… Yeah, I like Macros. I just need to do more work and practice. I have a 100mm macro lense. And a few landscape/portrait lenses. I need to update one of my telephoto lenses to a faster lense (and better DoF).
My first “real” camera (35mm) back in the late 80’s was a AE-1P. I’ve had the Canon T-50 and T-90s as well. The Disc and 110s were nice, but rather limited at the time. Dark rooms were fun, but the fumes…. OMG… *cough*cough*
I gave away my AE-1P several months ago. Still have a 400D (XTi) which is my backup, and have the 50D which is my primary camera for the time being.
AF is nice, but depending how it is AF’d, it sometimes changes when the scenery changes before taking the shot. Unless you lock it. And I agree with LCD screen, ‘cos even with the larger screen of the 50D (as compared to the XTi), it’s hard to tell if you’re in focus or not. And Live-View isn’t always that great.
Manual focus is pretty good. If you have a good tripod, you could focus on some like, say, the central windshield then ease the swivelhead up to a higher position to where your face might be. One trick would be to have a ball on a stick as a stand in to focus on, if you’re lucky enough to have something like that.
Program wise, I have Lightroom on my Macs and PCs which is pretty good. iPhoto (Mac) isn’t that bad either to be honest. Photoshop is nice, but I like Painter.
KellisanthParticipantCong-a-rats!
KellisanthParticipantWorking through things …
@DK – That would be nice. Between insurance and LoJack, I hope I don’t get stuck with too much of an expense. The Claims Adjuster said that if it isn’t recovered, he might be able to do something about the extended warranty contract (since no bike, there’s no need for warranty). He also said LoJack is considered an accessory thus would be covered. LoJack also gives some guarantee also, but I forgot what kind of pay they do. If anything, I don’t see the money – which is probably a good thing. Pay the Lien holder! I’ll just keep making my payments like normal until then…
@eon – Yep, if I go smaller, it would be a EX250 Ninja. Lowered. But I might take a look at some of the others too. A scooter would be interesting (no M needed), but I dunno how comfortable I would feel out on the highway. Or long distance riding (500+).@SCR – The EX500 I got *WAS* used. Price wise, when I got it was comparable to a brand new EX250, thus one reason why I got it. And it (EX500) was practically in brand new condition (less than 50 miles). Thus I thought I got a decent deal on it, at the time. Of course, now that I reflect on things, I sometimes wonder… 😮
@bigguybbr – yeah, if anything, I seriously wanna move back to the country or the suburb but lack of funds prevent me from really doing that. Thus I’m stuck in the city, which is a scary place to be with all the cars out there. If I win the lottery, that would be one of the first things I’ll be looking for.As for Akira… Nawwww… While that was a very nice bike, I think I wanna use the bike that Cloud (FFVII-AC) used. Or even Priss (BGC). But, I could go classical and try Burt Munroe’s bike instead, out on the Salt Flats!
@Elwood – Don’t think I have gap insurance. Down payment wise, I put down about 1500USD initially. Probably not much.
One silly note. I still have the OEM toolkit. I didn’t put it back in the bike. I was gonna replace that kit with some Cruz Tools that I picked up.
KellisanthParticipantRemember how kids used to write on the windows of vehicles like… “Clean me!” and such?
Mine had gotten pretty dusty with all the construction nearby. The black isn’t exactly black!
KellisanthParticipantYep!
Posted this somewhere in this forum or so.
I’m still waiting to see more about this. If I get stuck on this jury duty… Someone’s in trouble!
KellisanthParticipantAhhh! I know what you mean. I’ve done that a few times with timers on my 400D and 50D… Auto-focus or preset?
I have a remote trigger but that’s corded. Wireless is quite pricy! 😮
Still, I like that shot. Nice angle too.
KellisanthParticipantGuess a trip to Pep Boys is in order then.
Thanks Mega!
