ParticipantAt least you can get an 08 Ninja 250. We have to wait for the 09’s, sold out in the middle of April. Like you I thought about getting a used 250 but I couldn’t justify the little price difference plus the 08’s look amazing and fit me better. I am also a bit weary of the higher cc bkes, for many reasons, speed, power, heck I want to learn proper techniques have fun and at the same time be consevative, (taken MSF equilivant course). I came to the conclusion that if I like ridding enough so far i do and when I do finally get comfortable with handling the 250, then and only then will I consider upgrading to a more powerful bike. I have done a lot of research and the people on this web site have been awesome. For me a 250 was a logical choice and and the 09’s are worth the wait.

ParticipantI have seen several 08 Used 250’s in the Toronto area and the people are asking $1000 more than what they paid for the bike, and people are buying them. I got a downpayment on an 09 Ninja 250 for the past month, it will be worth the wait. I don’t really want to move up to the 500, for at least a couple of years, but i can understand the desire people have especially if they do update the look of the 500.

ParticipantHe had to be wearing a helmet, it is law everwhere in Canada. and he did take the course two weeks before the crash. If you pass the course you get your second level licence.

ParticipantI’m jealous $250 is cheap. I wish it were $250 up here. In Ontario I’m paying $410 for 3 hours in class and 2 days (16hrs) on the bike. I say BC is ripping you off ShannonG $700 is outragous, however I would rather pay that then learn with no training, Good thing you have a friend who is an instructor.

ParticipantThat was sick and facinating at the same time (meaning the healing process). I’m so glad that I got boots, makes me happy I listened to all the advvice on this forum when considerig taking up this sport. I was made fun of at work when I put tmy boots on to go on a ride on the back of a co-workers bike when it was only a couple of blocks. Uopn seeing that I will always wear my boots.

ParticipantI have found Kijiji to be better than craig’s list at least for southern ontaio. I haven’t heard it mentioned on here before so I ‘m not sure how good that site is in the US.

ParticipantI talked to Kawasaki Canada because I was hearing different things from different dealers. The dealers said anywehere from June to October, to August to Spring. Kawasaki said the end of summer no specific date was given. So I am hoping for Sept. Keeping my fingers crossed. I liked how they put restrictions on numbers so you get better ratio of drivers to trainees.

ParticipantI like Ottawa but not when the play the leafs. Its Leafs all the way. The first year the sens were back in the NHL 92/93 Season I was living in Ottawa and had no Leaf games on TV (I hate TV Blackouts)
, so I cheered for them, it was an exciting time and lots of excitement around the team. I guy at work is an Ottawa die hard fan, needless to say we have lots of heated debates.

ParticipantI grew up in Stouffville, Ontario Canada (folks still live there, very few people would have heard of it), lived in Ottawa for a year (I am a Leafs fan – and yes they sucked this year), now I live in Oshawa,(just outside Toronto).

ParticipantI totally agree, The 250’s are a much better looking bike and the 500’s totally need a facelift. Kawasaki Canada were sold out of 08 Ninja 250 3 months ago, I’ve been trying to get one for the past 2 months to no avail. There are 2 on Kijiji for sale used but they want more than what I will walk out of the dealer with for an 09, so I’ll wait. They already have lots of people on the waiting list for the 09’s which are supposed to come out the end of summer (tiss whar Kawasaki Canada told me) As for the 500’s I haven’t heard anything from the dealers about it, but one can always hope they will.
