I am Naveen from pittsburgh.
I have driven motorcycles in Asia typically in the 100 -150 CC and pretty much used to driving in the chaotic traffic of India.
Missing my old bikes. I decided to get a motorcycle in the US. I have my motorcycle permit.
Will be getting my M permit month end….I found this website just perfect.
I thinking riding in the US is very different from asia due to higher speeds and also auto drivers are not used to driving around a bike…I am considering bikes. I am looking for the NINJA 250/500. But I am tall (6 ft 3 inches) and weigh around 190 lbs.
I like a slightly more upright position and better height.Given my experience, Should I go in for Ninja 500 over a Ninja 250 ?
Also, how about cruiser style bikes ? I did not see much reviews for them here.
And ABS, does it really make a huge difference ?Any suggestions on the bikes would be welcome.

The final decision’s up to you on which bike to get. the 250 ninja might be a bit cramped for you since you’re rather tall, but weight-wise the bike should be fine for you. You just need to go and sit on some bikes. I don’t much care for cruisers myself so I have no ideas about them. I can say, having ridden these bikes, that the sv650s, the sv650s abs, and the ninja 250 are fine bikes to ride. If I’m reading you right, it seems that you feel more safer riding in india as opposed to here… which is kinda funny, as I have a friend at work who’s interning here from france, and he’s said he’d feel safer riding here in california than in france… hahaha…
anyhoo, if you can get ABS, get ABS. Suzuki has some vids that really highlight the benefits of ABS.

I am more concerned about being hunched up to ride the 500/650s.
I would like to be more upright since my lower back hurts if I ride the bike for quite some time.I am planning to use my bike for commuting (45 mts -1 hr each way). So I am trying to decide between a cruiser and sporty bike.
The only reason I prefer a cruiser now is because of not needing to hunch over the bike.May 9, 2008 at 4:29 am #6151roninParticipantApart from Craigslist, are there any websites I can search for used motorcycles ?
I live in PA. So I can check out bikes in PA, NJ/NY.May 9, 2008 at 4:48 am #6152megaspazParticipantYou probably don’t want a sports bike then since the way they’re designed is for the rider being tucked/hunched-over.
You can use google to find dealerships around your area… for example, if i’m looking at suzuki bikes, i might put in the search box:
suzuki dealerships 94085

Cheers
