CandiceParticipant
When I leave for work in the morning I drive in the dark and I don’t turn my highbeams on, I only turn them on in the day. But then I think there is too much traffic on my morning route and everyone would be pissed at me if I use my highbeams. I might start doing that on the side roads though, they are usually pretty dead, I hope I don’t forget to them off though when I get on the main road.
CandiceParticipantThank you, I will keep this in mind when shopping for a new bike. Maybe I will abandon ideas of a bigger, heavier bike and just be happy with what I’ve got. YES, that’s it, thank you so much!
I am also sorry to hear you hurt your hands/wrists. I hope you feel better soon.
CandiceParticipant3 girlfriends have asked me to take them for a ride, I said no way. I have no desire to carry a passenger. You want to ride, gals, get your own bike. I only want to be responsible for ME.
CandiceParticipantMy husband also originally said that he didn’t want me on the highway but when I told him I was going to try the highway, he said ok. So I just went with it.
That ride sounds nice. Your wife doesn’t want to ride a motorcycle? Has she been on the back of yours?
CandiceParticipantI go right thru Grand Rapids to go to Sault Ste. Marie. My husband had a bike back in college and he layed it down when he was avoiding some flying tire pieces and hit some gravel (or is that a low side? I don’t know). He was wearing a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. He had only been riding for 2 months at that point. He sold his bike a month later and has no desire whatsoever to ride a motorcycle. So, it’s cool that he was supportive when I told him I was thinking of riding a motorcycle because he doesn’t have very fond memories of his roadrash.
Yeah, regarding endurance, I think my body would need a break, maybe I would ride up 1/2 way, stay overnight somewhere and then ride the rest of the way.
CandiceParticipantThanks Megaspaz, that seems like very wise advice! I will just tell my brother to go at whatever speed he wants and I’ll see him when I get there. He might stop for smoke breaks and wait for me to catch up but if not, then oh well.
CandiceParticipantNo problem, I can’t remember what everyone rides. Have you ridden your bike from Bloomington up to Lisle? That would be a nice ride. My brother and I are toying with the idea of riding our bikes to visit our Mom in Sault Ste. Marie Canada next summer, it’s about an hour past Mackinaw. It’s about an 8 hour car ride though so I don’t know how I’m going to like being on the bike for that long, especially since the speed limit through MI is 70mph. In addition to that, my brother mentioned he would go 100mph the whole way there. I don’t think that would work for me.
I think my husband and I attended a Halloween party at a hotel in Bloomington years ago, it looks like a castle, I can’t remember the name at the moment.
CandiceParticipantI took the Motorcycle Safety Class the weekend of August 9th, and bought a 2003 Suzuki Savage LS 650 that only had 744 miles on it Labor Day Weekend. It’s turned out to be a great beginner bike for me. The first 2 weeks I just rode around the neighborhood on it, then I made little errand runs, like up to the gas station for gas, out for a lotto ticket, to the library, that sort of thing and then I started riding it to work by about the 3rd or 4th week. What are you thinking of getting?
CandiceParticipantOh yeah, that one is SSSWEEEEET.
CandiceParticipantOh yes, you will be ready. Mine is a very beginner 650, it only weighs 352 lbs. I had planned on getting a 250 to start with but I couldn’t find one so I went with this 650. Do you know what kind of 650 you are thinking about getting? I have already started to think of what I might want next and I only had this one since Labor Day Weekend! I don’t really want to go bigger I don’t think though.
CandiceParticipantI have a Suzuki 650 LS – I was surprised that it vibrated like that. It was tingly all right! Hee hee. People will be wondering why I’m giggling down the highway, because my foot is ticklish.
October 13, 2008 at 5:53 pm in reply to: Noob from NYC/NJ just took first private lesson and can’t wait for more!!!!! #13800CandiceParticipantAwesome! It IS rather addicting. Enjoy!
CandiceParticipantThat’s a nice looking bike!
CandiceParticipantJim, where you live, Canada? I would be horrified if I saw snow this early in the season. – HORRIFIED.
CandiceParticipantI found this handy dandy thing for the I-Pass the other day, don’t know that I would really buy it, but……
Yeah, I took 80 to LaGrange and up to laraway back to Joliet.
