A 2009 Suzuki VStrom 650. After all my research it seemed to fill all my needs for what I want to do on a motorcycle. I pick it up tomorrow. I rode it around the parking lot and even though I can’t flat foot it I knew as soon as I started off, this was the second bike for me. It just felt comfortable and the pickup is smooth, quiet, and not much vibration which is alot more than I can say for the bigger cruisers I’ve tried.
I’m keeping the Rebel at least for now, very different riding experiences plus I want to start off slow on the VStrom.

Tried hard to talk me into it, but I couldn’t get over the height and engine size. It’s on my list for my second bike. Just picked up my 2006 Ninja 250 yesterday. I haven’t really had time to ride it yet, just 10 minutes while picking it up in Fallbrook. Can’t wait to get on to practice.

October 13, 2008 at 5:05 am #13772IanCParticipantYeah the height issue is the big one for me on this bike.
I can’t flat foot it unlike the Rebel. After I picked it up today I went riding with some buddies (about 100 miles) and while I felt totally comfortable while riding, every time I came in for a stop I held my breath.
I’ve been assured that I’ll get used to not being able to flat foot it. So that’s what I’m going to be practicing with this bike over the next few weeks. Lots of stop and goes.
