ParticipantHaha, I think it is called a duc walk for him.
Honestly, I think you bought the wrong bike to start on. Your scooter experience will help somewhat but that bike is a beast.
I would love to hear how your training goes, though. People do learn on bigger bikes. What I hope to hear is, “man, this is tough, I should have started smaller.” What I hope not to hear is, “I looped it.”

ParticipantOh, I get it. But I am 5’7″ 170lbs. This guide doesn’t apply to someone my size.

ParticipantThe best way to learn to do stoppies is to get a very large life insurance policy, payable to me, and then just go for it.

ParticipantDoes the jacket have a zipper to connect it to pants. If yes, I wouldn’t worry about it, just zip up. Looking at how the jacket fits you, I would say that it might be made to fit short like that.
My jacket is actually longer in the tail to facilitate leaning without showing any skin.

ParticipantAndrew- The new ninja’s seet is actually a little higher than the old one. not much, but a little. After riding mine for the past few months, I have to say that I am not worried about flat footing a bike anymore.

ParticipantThe carbs are clogged. Try sea foam or you may have to take them apart and clean them.

Participant“In the mornings riding to school its cold, like im about to fall of my bike cold. I want something to cover my neck and chin (like a ninja hat but with the top cut off) that’ll block the wind and keep me warm. Also some warm pants and maybe a new jacket. Where can i find these?”
On the internet.

ParticipantYou must be looking for the new 250. Yeah, those things are going like hotcakes. Good luck.

ParticipantI would argue that interstate riding is the least fun type of riding there is.

ParticipantI thought the argument was against the CCs and foreign bikes. I have not ridden any of the lower CC European or Japanese models but I bet that the technology in them is newer than that of my Ninja. I would bargain that either of the Hyosung 250s would ride well in traffic. The Aprilla 125, although maybe not ideal and you would get pushed all around, could probably do it.

ParticipantBut the 18 wheelers brakes should help. They may want to go faster than you and it would be nice for you to get out of their lane so they can play decoy and get all the tickets. My bike does not struggle to go 90. I can safely say that if I have never felt that the flow of traffic was going too fast on my bike. My bike will go 105 according to people that know and test this sort of thing. This is faster than I want to go on it and faster than I have ever seen traffic move. I ride my 250 almost primarily in the far left lane of a four lane interstate during rush hour and any other time.
People saying that 250cc bike can’t handle the interstate or traffic have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. I would like to know what 250cc bike WeaponZero or ccpharrell has had on the interstate as a base of reference. I see people on rebels on the interstate doing just fine and that is an underpowered bike.
I was joking about the wheelies and what not.
But what do I know, bigger is better right.

Participant“still have power to spare in case it is needed”
i.e. wheelies while splitting traffic, impromptu road racing, and to make it through that gap that is closing.
The myth that you can outrun most bad situations on a bike, isn’t one that should be spread, especially on a beginner board.
9,999 times out of 9,999.5 on the interstate, if you are paying attention, there isn’t a situation that your brakes shouldn’t get you out of. Under normal traffic conditions the odds increas to 9,999 out of 9,999.1.
People want to kill me all the time but I see it coming way in advance and make the adjustments so that they think, “where did that guy come from behind me” and not, “hey what was that bump?I hope I don’t have a flat tire.”
The more experience you get, the less “close calls” you have.
I have an EX250 and it will go all day at 70-75 and has plenty left incase I want to run from the cops or something. I mean, I can’t get it up on one tire at that speed, but that is probably my lack of experience shining through.

ParticipantThis guy named craig has on online list and you can get great deals on the Ninja 250 there. Might be quicker than waiting on a dealer to get one.
