ParticipantGreetings all. I have been visiting this site almost daily since completing the MSF course in mid August. Learning to ride has been a dream of mine for over ten years now and dreams do come true. After getting the motorcycle endorsement on my license, I began looking for a used bike on craigslist and three days ago I got a 2008 Ninja 250 with around 500 miles on it. This site convinced me to get a 250 to start with and I am grateful for all the wonderful advice from everyone here.
For all the people wondering if they will be comfortable on the ninja 250, I am 5’11” and 205lbs and the bike fits really well. My wife who is 5’4″ and 115lbs sat on it and commented how light it felt. She couldn’t get her feet flat on the ground but she wasn’t exactly on her tippy toes.
Anyway, I plan to cut my teeth on this lil ninja for a year or two then move up to a touring bike.(another dream) So I would like to close by saying Best Beginner Motorcycles is the best and thanks for all the great reviews and info from everyone here.

ParticipantYou lucked out finding that bike people have been snapping them up from dealers all year. The Ninja is fine for smaller riders. I’m 5’4 and I can get the balls of both my feet on the ground. Or I could flat foot 1 foot if I chose.

ParticipantAndrew- The new ninja’s seet is actually a little higher than the old one. not much, but a little. After riding mine for the past few months, I have to say that I am not worried about flat footing a bike anymore.

ParticipantI did notice the height change and the peg change when I was narrowing down the bike I wanted. I wouldn’t have been able to get the 08 for the price I got the 07 for though.

ParticipantHow do you have the rear suspension adjusted? I hear it can be easily adjusted, changing the seat height. Might not want it at one extreme or the other, but still gives you some wriggle room right?

ParticipantI was all set on having both feet flat while sitting on the bike until I rode the Ninja.
It’s a perfect fit for me except the height. Seriously now I have have some saddle time on the Ninja the feet don’t worry me at all. I have enough contact to walk the bike to park it in the garage and balance the bike while stopped. I can’t walk it up my angled driveway but I’m not sure if I could do that with a shorter bike anyway. I don’t think being flat footed is a requirement anymore.

GuestThe manual explains how to adjust the rear suspension but I’m gonna leave any adjusting to a pro. I don’t think it lowers the seat height, just changes the pre-load on the spring.
