Flies and Lady Bugs!

For those of you that wear a full face helmet, has anyone had any bugs get under your helmet? The first time this happened a fly got up under the face shield and was flying around in my helmet, that was on some country roads doing about 55 or 60. The second time that happened a ladybug got under my helment and crawled around on my face shield while I was on the highway doing about 60 or 65. You know, if the ladybugs land on your face when they close their wings it pinches. I would rather have a bee up in there than a ladybug.October 20, 2008 at 7:44 pm #14071BuddParticipant
I have had something get in there. It seemed to be more of a crawler and was crawling on my face. it was really annoying.

bug’s will get into your helmet any which way they can. I’ve had them come in from the top vents, the back vents, and under the chin. I’ve had a yellow jacket get into my leather jacket and into my undersuit and sting me a few times before i smooshed his ass against the gas tank. and take my word for it, you don’t want to get stung by a bee or anything else with a stinger in your head area.

I had a moth that got into my jacket and the flapping around was distracting. I didn’t know what it was till I stopped and got rid of it.October 21, 2008 at 6:07 pm #14144DeD FredParticipant
One of the reasons I dont wear a full face, is I ran through a bee sworm and got several inside at once.
My buddy behind me said he never saw a helmet fly off of someoen going down the road. It looked like I lost my head for a second. He was nice enough to stop and pick it up for me.

I was going through some twisties in the forest a few weeks ago, and the local fire dept was doing controlled burns near the highway which brought all the little bugs into the road. my bike/helmet/jacket got COVERED by these little gnat-type bugs, some got on my neck and up on my chin. They didnt last through the impact, but they were still annoying.
