    Hey Everyone,
I am about to leave work so I will introduce myself monday.

I read how much some of you are paying for insurance and I am shocked how i edned up with a $1180 12 month price.
I am 25, in NY state (Long Island), have a 07′ shadow spirit 750 and my license for 1 month. I am single and basically in the most expensive bracket for insurance … but cmon! 1180??

Could you guys drop your details and price? Lets see if my insurance is realistic ….

I went with Geico and didn’t go overboard on the insurance.. 15/30 with 1k deductable.. But included uninsured motorist, bodily injury, and theft.. For my 2002 V-Star 650 Custom I’m paying $295 a year.. That’s without my MSF course yet.. So it should go down when I take the course next week..

I just want to make it out of this life alive…

You should shop around. $1180 sounds a bit much. I’m paying around $400 a year with rape farm, uh I mean state farm. I didn’t shop around but I’m sure I could get it cheaper. Unless your driving record is in the crapper, you should look else where.

    so weird ….
I did shop around! Geico beat progressive and esurance.
My driving record has one speeding ticket on it, but since I got the insurance online I was able to see what difference that ticket made.
Initially i was quoted something like $1020, and once they checked my record they upped it by $160.

I mean if I am paying 1.5 times as much as most people, I understand (new rider and all) but 3.5x !!!!????

Aye…I paid $250 for full comprehensive for the full year.

It probably varies greatly from state to state with age, sex, record, and type of bike.

Seeing how my bike was under 10K (they concider it a credit card “luxury item”) and I am not required to have full coverage…. $75 a year. Not to mention under 900 cc’s.
The way I see it… I ride interstate 90% of the time…. if I lay her down (knock on wood it don’t happen) the bike is gone and I will be more concerned about getting out of traction.
I got enough to cover damages on the person or persons in my travel path…. but thats prettty much it.
I live back in the sticks and I work at an auto shop with the bike parked beside my 2 work bays….so theft is no worry. Sometimes it pays to be country :^) .

Yesterday is a memory, tomorrow is a prediction, but today…… is a Bi**h

i think i paid somewhere round 650 for liability ONLY on my gs500… given I’m 20, new rider, and a little wreck on my license im guessing this would probably have possibly been close to your 1100 on a 750 if you got full coverage (they charge more for more CCs) :o( insurance sucks!

I’m only paying 200 for my Ninja. It all depends on your coverage, your deductible, your age, the bike and your driving record.

A large part of that is likely where you live. I lived in NY for 25 years ( most of my life ), and my insurance for my car was always sky high, even with a clean record. I would imagine bike is the same.. not to mention you living on long island is only going to make it worse.

I moved to NE and my neighbors both pay 1k+/yr for each of there Harley’s.

Your price quotes sound ridiculous. I went with Geico for a 650 and I pay $250.00 or so. You need to ask them why it is so high.

Phil.. Yer doing something wrong.. I have a great rate with Geico and I’m in LA.. Either you’re getting WAY too much coverage or too low of a deductable..
