ParticipantThe nice thing about the rain is that it keeps the squids home and the backroads clear.

Participantit’s somewhat amusing… but not as amusing as the pr0n industry asking for a bail out a bit ago.

ParticipantOr… you could be known as the coolest and the most irresponsible parent on earth…
No two-up for me though… I have enough issues riding 1-up…

ParticipantIf you’re looking for helmets, give http://extremesupply.com/ a go. Great service, and the best prices i’ve seen anywhere for agv stealth helmets.

Participantdang. sorry to hear about your spill. glad to hear you’re ok. sounds like the bike shouldn’t be too much to fix up.

Participantsv650s, ducati 848.
Edit: clarification… started on the sv650s, got a ducati 848. I ride them both, although, I only seem to crash the 848…

Participantan hour long ride isn’t a long ride. ;-P
but sitting on the bike in the showroom’s fine as long and will give you an idea of how it’ll feel on the road. if it’s uncomfortable from the start, it’s just uncomfortable from the start. if you can get the sales person to hold the bike upright for you to sit on, even better.
And one of the first things I do when I get a new bike (sprotsbile rider here) is to change the rear sets to either sato or vortex rear sets with pedals and add on frame sliders. I’ve never liked the stock rear sets of any of the bikes I’ve owned or sat on.

Participantif you’re referring to the ninja 250/500/650r, yes, the seating position is more upright.

ParticipantI’m trying to figure out how 2 riders in a bunch of riders going 30mph and holding up traffic can get tickets for suspicion of speeding. wtf, is suspicion of speeding? In my day, either you caught them speeding or you didn’t. Not saying the riders weren’t being asshats, but that article leaves a lot to be desired in the specificity dept.

ParticipantI’m pretty sure, medical’s a seperate add on. ask the insurance company though for a definitive answer.

Participant#1. Agree with munch.
#2. Agree with munch.
#3. Considering around here, people selling old ninja 250s with more miles for about the same price, yes, 3K for an 05 ninja 500 with only 1K miles seems like a really nice deal.
#4. Disagree with munch. Depending where you’re at, protection’s about the same. Your helmet needs at least DOT certification. Other certs as Snell or BSI can up the price on helmets, but in reality the extra price you’re usually paying for in helmets is the graphics or some other kind of superficial extras, like more vents.
#5. I would never try an internet sale unless the seller is accessible to me where I can go over, look, sit, and/or test ride a bike. And if all that is satisfied, there’s no need to have the bike shipped.megaspaz
ParticipantWhat kind of ninja you got? I’ve never heard of the stock seating positions of the sv650s being more upright than the ninja 250/500/650r. I’ve sat on all them bikes and those ninjas are more upright than the sv. I’ve sat on Ben’s bike and his even felt more upright, but his bike was modded a bit.
Body wise, using your core to keep your upper body in position and the weight off your wrists, gripping the tank with your knees, and foot position with the your heels against the heel guards and balls of feet on the foot pegs can all help from sliding all over the place. Look into getting tank grips like stompgrip or techspec to help with keeping your knees from sliding around and off the tank.
