Found this via another news story. It’s jerks like this that give everybody on two wheels a bad name.
January 20, 2009 at 2:04 pm #15847Sangria7ParticipantI read some of the responses. They claim they were not stunting…oh well.
January 20, 2009 at 2:08 pm #15848Clay DowlingParticipantHopefully they try to fight these tickets. Because in most states highway patrol has dash cams for just such purposes. So if the guys were really doing it, it will be on the cam, and they’ll get fat citations for being stupid. And if they weren’t, CHP will get egg on their faces for being stupid.
Those claiming to be part of that group didn’t do themselves any favors in their responses. But I’m not convinced that they are who they say they are either. Mouthing off in a public forum about a pending legal case to which you are a party is not very bright, and definitely not recommended by counsel.

January 20, 2009 at 4:31 pm #15853megaspazParticipantI’m trying to figure out how 2 riders in a bunch of riders going 30mph and holding up traffic can get tickets for suspicion of speeding. wtf, is suspicion of speeding? In my day, either you caught them speeding or you didn’t. Not saying the riders weren’t being asshats, but that article leaves a lot to be desired in the specificity dept.

January 20, 2009 at 5:18 pm #15855eonParticipantThe same thing happened here in WA back in the summer and some of the motorists caught it on video cameras. There was a huge public outcry and the police started cracking down on bikers after it. Lot’s of innocent folk getting harassed and getting tickets for anything and everything. One dude got pulled over after standing on his pegs to stretch his legs. Some motorist freaked out and called 911 on him and reported he was doing wheelies. Now that I think about it, I think he was charged on suspicion of dangerous driving. I think if someone calls 911 and makes a complaint against you the police can arrest you on suspicion of that charge. The officer did not see you commit the offense but have someone willing to testify against you.
If this is happening in your area, make sure you are 100% legal or expect to get a ticket.
January 20, 2009 at 8:39 pm #15861Clay DowlingParticipantIf my legs need to stretch, my posterior is definitely screaming for a chance to get some air. I’ll be looking for a place to hop off, and nobody will mistake it for stunting.
January 21, 2009 at 1:49 am #15871kirkParticipantGood story but the posts were more interesting. I’m not sure what the truth behind the story is but there are some sick people out there. I am refering to the guy that boasts that he has killed one rider and injured several more! That guy is a jackass and needs to be kept away from society.
