I dont have a before video unfortunately. I only have this after video using my wife’s pink video camera :)
Still sounds wimpy but better than before. The holes are 3/8 inch but I was thinking of making them 1/2 inch for more sound output.

Meh – it will have to do until I get my V&H Cruzer pipes with tax return LOL

Yea – its a poor mans mod :)

Maybe you can record the sound bit on a digital sound recorder then dub it over the video?

Damn I should do this to my bike (just got a gz250 today!) Do I need to take off the muffler to actually drill or can I do it with the bike standing?

You can drill through while bike is standing. Just make sure your drillbits are titanium and you have at least a 12 V drill with 500lbs torque or else it will not drill through.

You will need to drill through the outer exhaust shell then through the baffle.

You will want to hold the exhaust with one hand as you drill. I actually found it easier to drill after the bike has been running since the metal is “softer” when hot. But then again you can burn yourself. Either way becareful – you’ll find a lot of metal shavings come off and I even broke two of my titanium drill bits.

Before I forget – also you will need to start with an 1/8 inch drill bit working your way up to 3/8 inch.

It is like 4 different bits total…

Wish I could do something like this…. after warranty runs out. However the 900 is equipped with a catalytic converter of sorts and I am not willing to risk a $50k federal fine. So…. I will just have to listen to everyone elses.

wait, is that fine for any bike with the holes or just the 900? Could I get fined for putting it on a gz250?

Anything fitted with a catalytic converter. Federal EPA law. If your not sure wether or not you have one…may want to look in your MoM.

actually…… I need to check for MC’s but I know for automotive…if it came factory…it had best have one on there. Which BTW is alot of the reason MC manufacturers are having to redo their whole line.

So is there a CC size where there are Cat-Converters on bikes? Or are they just in required states?

So basically this is illegal no matter how I go about it…ughhh but god I really want a deeper sound on my bike, it’s so…eh haha.
If you do find out the legal consequences/fines let me know! I really got to weigh those in before I do this ; )
