as no one sane would ever admit to being from Napa… j/k
Yeah, Napa’s got some great roads and one of these days I’d love to ride them. Napa’s just a tad too far from where I’m at though being from the south bay area… but mebbe, I might for the hell of it…
Hope you do decide to get back into riding. I’ve been having a blast. A coworker of mine has a cbr600 but I’ve never ridden it. I’ve got an sv650s and it’s just a joy to ride, except when I do something noobish… .>” title=”>.>” class=”bbcode_smiley” />

Hough’s Proficient Motorcycling. He talks about riding in all kinds of weather, road conditions, etc. It’s considered the benchmark in riding books.

I don’t have a 250cc (riding a sv650s) and the only 250cc bikes i rode were a couple of cruisers at the MSF and a little riding a couple of friends’s ninja250s. Not much of a fan for cruiser class bikes, but the ninjas seemed to be a pretty good ride.

There’s 2 kinds, basic and early warning. Basic is just when you notice your bike missing and you report it. Early warning is where the bike is moved without the transmitter in the vicinity and you get email, text, phoned about the move which you can report. The recovery time with lojack’s supposed to be really fast. But it is $$$. The basic lists here for 795.00 USD while the early warning lists @ 1295.00 USD. And for your garage/driveway you can get a chain and lock and fasten it around the tires to something that isn’t going to move. Those are some of the ways I can think of. Although, there’s nothing that will prevent someone from taking your bike apart for parts though (spark plugs for instance).

Still, I would imagine most businesses would be reasonable with the situation after you explain it to them. And if you’re offering more money to hold it, then I don’t see a reason why they wouldn’t hold onto it for you. But it’s just something you’ll have to talk to them about.

But, imo, it’s always good to do parking lot practices on a new bike so you get to know it and how it feels in them situations. Maybe more so, since you’re moving to a new class of bikes. I myself did a few weeks of nothing but parking lots on my first bike and I had 0 experience riding a motorized 2 wheeler of any sort. So, imo, just playing around in your driveway doesn’t sound overly cautious to me…

If there’s anything more important than my ego
around, I want it caught and shot now…megaspazParticipantI ride to work early in the morning and late at night a few times on 237 here in california. Winds were pretty strong some of them days and I was getting pushed around on my sv650s. From the outside of laneX to the middle of laneX riding @ ~70mph. As far as being safer goes, I guess that depends on when you notice the wind pushing you and how you adjust to it… But I, myself, would think the heavier the bike, possibly the more “resistent” to wind it would be in terms of being pushed around easily…

My only experience on motorized 2 wheelers of any sort was the class as well. The more you ride, the better you get. The parking lot at work after hours was my best friend for about 3 weeks.

I really do like the voted on “Best Answer”.
Or just get a ninja 250 and up to a sv650s later.
