Hey everybody, sorry to keep flooding newb questions but since Im on a budget and looking for armored jackets, this website and jacket caught my eye: http://www.theridinggear.com/Motorcycle-Jackets-Men-Motorcycle-Jackets/c40_36/p804/Red-Black-Padded-Armor-Motorcycle-Racing-Jacket-Racing/product_info.html

Anybody have any experience with theridinggear ?

I have no direct (or even indirect — I’ve never even heard of that site) experience, but what I see there looks decent. I imagine it compares well with the offerings from leatherup.com as well.

    1. I’d stick with brands known for being well made. Quality of construction is the name of the being-able-to-walk-after-falling-off-your-bike game, so find a brand known for being well-made.

    2. Go to your local motorcycle superstore and make sure the item fits your body type before buying. Fit is important because a jacket that doesn’t fit your body type can turn into a sail on the freeway, and because the clothing item needs to have its protective armor in the correct places. That knee or shoulder pad won’t help you if it doesn’t cover your knee or shoulder. Each brand tends to make their items to fit a single body type.

    3. Try Newenough.com, or motorcycle closeouts for quality brands at low prices.

Never heard of the site and some of the stuff on there is obviously knock-off (check out the Kawasaki rip-off jackets). When I see that kind of thing, I don’t think “quality”.

I second the suggestion of checking out newenough and motorcyclecloseouts. I’ve bought from both and been very happy with products and service. Newenough has some namebrand armored leather jackets for about $100.

Another great site. Just bought a KBC helmet on sale for about $50 for my son (awesome helmet makes me feel like a d–n bobblehead in my ole’ matte black unit) and a pair of Fox overpants for $30. Nice folks, reputable gear.
Colors may ‘scare’ some Harley riders, but that’s because most of them see the world in shades of black and chrome ;)

If you’re looking for helmets, give http://extremesupply.com/ a go. Great service, and the best prices i’ve seen anywhere for agv stealth helmets.
