ParticipantThe Ninja is light so it makes it easier. I have the hold the backward roll down to not going far at all on most hills and I have almost mastered the rear brake application until friction zone manuver. Because I had driven a stick for so many years I really didn’t obsess about hills or even worry about them. One day I stopped on a hill and just muscled it until I was in the friction zone and let the friction zone hold me. Then I realized that I could just keep my foot on the rear brake until I had enough pull to keep me from moving backwards but not so much that I was moving forward.

ParticipantIt is a slippery slope from seat belt and helmet laws to bacon eating laws. I don’t want my bacon messed with.

ParticipantI would use it when getting gas. It also helps in oiling your chain.

ParticipantI think the xs has the same shell size as the M but just much thicker cheek pads. You can buy the small cheek pads that are thinner and they should fit in your shell.

ParticipantI get plenty of opportunity to work on quick stops in Nashville Traffic. Not the ideal place to practice but the opportunity presents itself almost daily. I usually only shift through gears without letting the clutch out in this situation. Even then I don’t do so in rapid succession just in case the car behind me is following too close or doesn’t see me. If possible, aiming it at the shoulder before quickstopping is to your advantage.

ParticipantThose would be smoke grenade canisters that they left on after developing the bike for the Military. The military thing is what gives it that really mean look.

ParticipantRobbie, I cant believe you are choosing your 1 year old flesh and blood over a complete stranger. That, my friend, makes you a. . . good father. I understand though, but you should organize a GA meetup.

ParticipantWe were told not to run brights during the day at MSF. They said it does not increase visability anymore than the low beam to anyone except the person you are behind or who you are pointed at going around a curve. The instructors said that it is an anoyance and that, in their experience, cars will do dumb stuff when the high beams are on behind them like stomp on the brakes. They were all GWRAA and said that anyone riding in formation with high beams would be told to keep them on low.

ParticipantI was told the KY doesn’t have the laws because it is cheaper to pay for a funeral than skin grafts and rehabilitation. I am sure it is a joke but not sure how much of one.

ParticipantWith all the interest, it looks like it will just be me and a couple of friends. I am not sure there are many people on here that are from TN. But, I thought I would give it a shot so that all that “this is a bay area site” talk could be negated. Music City in the house.

ParticipantThe six is an awesome car. My next car will probably be a manual 3.

ParticipantI use the side stand and lock the bars when I go someplace. At home or when getting gas I use the center stand. Usually when I use the center stand the side stand is down too. I put it down when getting off the bike and just never put it back up. I would use the center stand on gravel or in the grass as well. even on a newly paved parking lot on a hot day.

ParticipantIf you have one that looks nice take a hammer to it and spray paint it. Then no one will want to steal it. Honestly, other than the wheel lock on the ignition, I have never even thought about it.

ParticipantIt is actually for diesel engines, but they recommend it on the Ninja250 website. The stuff comes out like maple syrup.
