I like the fact that the chrome has been kept to a minimum. In combination with the black paint it has a very menacing “badass” look, and works very well with those skulls you’ve got on it. I also noticed the skull on the front healamp. Is that etched into the lens?

December 27, 2008 at 12:10 am #15434Sangria7ParticipantAND I just added my new blue LED Light Kit today…after 3 hours of fussing around with the wiring…voila!!!
I only used 6 clusters and 4 strips…December 27, 2008 at 12:52 am #15436MunchParticipantNot bad looking…careful border lining Punisher to the side of Fast and Furious…. though I suspect no funky fart pipes and hello kitty type stuff to pop up.
Actually thought about the same treatment for mine… but that would require me to turn a wrench on it and I refuse to… once i get started, my wallet is the only thing that stops me.*****************************************************************************************

Yea I just wanted to add some night time effects…
The kit was only $50 off ebay and considering most light kits go for $100+ it wasnt a bad deal.
December 27, 2008 at 6:01 am #15442MaxDadAKParticipantHey bud let me know how you like your new ride. I’m getting a V Star 250 (it’s my first ever bike) and was looking at that exact one for my next step up but wasn’t sure if I should go to a 650 or the 950. Also if you don’t mind what’s your build? I”m 5′ 9″ and about 200 and don’t want a bike that’s too big for me. Just for an extra creepy kick if your about the same build as me do you have a pic of you next to or on the bike to look at? The reason I ask is that up here in Alaska the Yamaha dealership only keeps a few Roadliners and Road Stars on it’s showroom floor so I can’t really go in and sit on the ones I’m looking at and make a good judgement.
December 27, 2008 at 2:38 pm #15446Sangria7ParticipantI would recommend to ride your Vstar 250 first. And after you get comfortable with it, you will know what step up you can go to.
Its all about your skill with the bike. While I would have been probably ok with handling the 950, I chose the 650 because I dont trust myself on a 950 yet. That, and it was a lot more money than I had at the time I bought my bike.
With all respect, dont try to rush into the bikes. You havent even got the 250 yet. Learn your 250 bike. Learn your skills. When you are turning on your 250, ask yourself, if you would be comfortable with a 500-600 lbs bike doing it. The heavier bikes will handle differently on braking, turning, and tight manuevering. Lastly, have you taken the MSF?
As for me, I was in the US Army and did semi pro bodybuilding for 4 years, and I still work out today. I bench press 275 lbs for reps and can squat the weight of my bike. However, I was glad to start off on a 250 in every way. When I got on the 650 and 950, there wasnt much difference between the two, but I did feel the difference between them and the 250. My point is, build and height will not the measure your ability to handle a bike as I have seen 5 ft, 110 lbs women in my riding groups, handle 1300 cc harleys all day long.
Speaking of which, I am off to they gym .
December 28, 2008 at 4:00 am #15451BouncingRadicalParticipantThat’s a brutal lookin bike! The punisher icon is awesome.
January 10, 2009 at 8:26 am #15598smokeizfireParticipant…is a sin, I’ll just say damn you really out did yourself. The LEDS are sick. The Punisher scheme is “el perfecto”!
January 10, 2009 at 4:53 pm #15597DaggerParticipantVery nice bike Sangria.. I’ve thought about adding the light kit to mine as well.. It turned out really good.. Which kit did you end up buying? I’m also liking some of the blacked out chrome on the newer bikes.. It helps accent the rest of the chrome better than when everything is just all chrome.. Was also thinking of doing a light mod on my air filter that I saw on the VStar 650 forum..
Good work!

January 10, 2009 at 8:50 pm #15600Sangria7ParticipantThanks Dagger!
You should get a kit from the link below and tell him I (Elm) sent you-hopefully he will cut you a great deal.
Actually the light kit is from http://www.ledaccentlights.net
They are great because everything is prewired and spliced together pretty much. Joe-Florida has an unconditional lifetime warranty on them as well and gives you his personal phone if you need help on install.
Very easy overall install and great lights for a very low price.
Check em out. He sent me th lights for free to review and will be in Thunderroadstexas magazine in the next month or so.
January 11, 2009 at 1:36 am #15605MunchParticipantYou just had to go and give a link didn’t you…. :sigh: guess I am screwed now. Will see what mine looks like soon. Thanks… I think , lol.
January 11, 2009 at 3:02 am #15608Sangria7ParticipantPost the pics Munch when you get them installed!! LOL
