same kind of thing happened to me, i always wear full gear on or off road. well one time i decided I’d wear shorts b/c it was really hot and i was just riding on the back of a friends quad and we wouldn’t be going far or fast…bad idea!!! to make a long story short, i ended up having the inside of my thigh chewed off by the rear tire of the quad and a bunch of other cuts bruises and scrapes!
also got the whole side of my helmet scraped up, thank God i was wearing that!!! A.T.G.A.T.T.!

mine are just standard oval black bar ends, they cost like $13 each. I’ve read that the billet ones have a nicer finish, but they all work the same way. rear visibility doesn’t get any better than with bar ends, they’re awesome!!

I really like the sport type handling of my bike (95 yam.seca 600) and it’s gas millage being 45-50mpg, but in the event that i had to buy another bike i would maybe get a cruiser style like a Vulcan 500 or a Star 650 simply b/c 90%+ of the sport bike riders in my area take the term “squid” to a whole new level, and i hate being summed up in that category by other riders and by people in general. I’ve never been one to care much about other peoples opinions, esp if they don’t know me, but ppl who ride like they got there brain from the local truck stop toilet really piss me off!

sorry that i turned this post in to a squid hate rant but i love my bike and don’t like being judged 4 it >=/

I had the exact same problem with my bike, i couldn’t see behind me at all. I got bar end mirrors and the problem is totally fixed. there are a whole bunch of company’s that make them ( i got mine from j&pcycles.com )and they look sweet too imo.

I’ve had a real deal with judging proper entry speed for turns. more than a few times I’ve gone into a turn at what i think is a good reasonable speed only to scare my self just a bit and realize that I’m going a little faster than I’m comfortable with ( the bike hangs in there just fine mind you), so far I’ve not had any bad effects, just allot of learning and a quickened pulse. I’ve started slowing more than i think necessary for curves that I’m unfamiliar with, ad it seems to work just fine, a few times I’ve slowed more than the curve required but I’d rather go too slow as too fast!
