Which is better while driving a motorcycle, go faster than traffic or just the same speed as traffic?

Either way you could have problems. Going faster than traffic you will probably be riding right behind someone and will have to worry about them stopping quick for some reason. If you go the same speed as everyone you will probably have someone riding close behind you. I tend to get alot of people that like to ride right on top of me, makes me nervous because if i happen to make a misake while driving they don’t give themselves enough time to stop.

I prefer passing the flow of traffic if possible and taking the lane which is the clearest for the longest distance. Either way, there’s no hard fast rule, you just have to read the traffic around you. That’ll tell you how fast you should/could be going.

When riding the freeways I try to either slow down or speed up as necessary to get to the part of the freeway where I have the most space around me and my bike. Sometimes I speed up to get to a place where that is and sometimes I slow down. People in cars, in general, don’t give a damn about you. They’re just trying to get from point A to point B as fast as possible. But, truth be told…going FASTER to get away from cars is more fun ;)
