ParticipantWhen people ask if a year would be ample time for upgrades it’s hard for anyone to really answer. It leaves me to question: How long of a riding season you have, How much are you intending on riding, what kind of weather conditions are you going to shy away from?
You can better judge that at the end of your year. If you put serious miles on it you should be fine. Rain is really not that bad to ride in as long as your careful and you spend the first couple of times in a not so busy area to build up confidence. It will not take long to get used to .Munch
ParticipantThere is a lot of horn upgrades on different sites. Anything from air horns to some that just put out a lot of noise. I have never used my horn… like brider your usually to busy making a quick maneuver. I have been thinking of going to a salvage yard a getting me an old Buick horn though……just to get rid of that road runner horn that came stock.
For the headlight……be careful to match the wattage and needs of the OEM bulb as you risk either blowing the fuse constantly or put such a load on it that the charging system can’t keep up.Munch
Participantpictures: Use photo bucket or imageshack or similar image hosting site then copy the link and use the “radio button” that looks like a sun set….. paste the addy into the appropriate box.
Regular batteries… no I wouldn’t use them…they are set to put out more voltage and amperage that can and will fry the circuitry in the motorcycle. All be it the motorcycle ones are weaker, but for good reason. The reason the battery is dead is due to the time it sat. Once you start riding it regularly the charging system will maintain it for you. you won’t need the tender until you decide to leave it stored up for a couple of weeks.Munch
ParticipantHe’s been on here and there… .some new reviews popped up not to long ago. He’s been getting on 11-ish east coast time. caught him a time or two. Might be the woman keeping him away, or just riding…or real life work.

ParticipantROFLMAO…. you catch that on you tube or you speaking from playing?

ParticipantAll of the above…with I-net connection for reference and manuals.
Being an auto mechanic… I can tell ya that Craftsman isn’t what they used to be… I have just snapped my 5th 10″ long 3/4″ drive ratchet. I prefer Matco over most, hate snap on with a passion, more due to the company and not so much the tools. Cornwell is ok , but few and far between in my area Mac is about comparable to Matco.Munch
ParticipantVery Very nice!!!! Man I am jealous. Love the Rocket man ribs on the tank…nice touch. Has a Victory combined with Boulevard style. Get you some hard cases on the back of that thing and a windshield and I think you could almost call it perfect to my taste.

ParticipantSome will require a First Aid kit be on board…. depends on the organization.

ParticipantWhen I wear my FF I always leave a small crack of a spot open…. lets wind in and clears the fog fairly quickly.Winters here are cold and humid which leads alot to fog….just crack the shield a bit while moving and the circulating air will clear it….at stop lights go ahead and flip the visor up a bit….takes less then a second to slap it back down before you go off and running.

ParticipantHowdy…..another Carolinian…starting to pile up….
I am in raleigh we got 2 others I think in NC on here. One is out your way . Good luck on the MSF… if the public classes are to full I do know there is a HD dealer up your way that has the Riders Edge course…. of course it costs a bit much.Munch
ParticipantPros of new: You know the history of the bike…. Warranty….. You know where the person that sold it to you works! If the dealer offers, you can get a maintenance program (for a nominal fee ofcourse) to take the headache out of break in check/oil change and any minor issues that pop up along the way. Saved my rear on my V500 when I bought it new.
Cons: Financing…always costs more in the long run. Insurance… depending on type of financing insurance required will be more then what a used will. Break in and de bugging. No bike is really perfectly set up on delivery, sometimes you may have to go back a couple of times to work out some of the little quirks that pop up.
Used: Pros…pricing, broke in (hopefully not just broke) If you don’t like the color…..won’t hurt you to paint it. Insurance…if not financing relatively cheaper
Cons: A lot to list and I am late for work….to be continued….Munch
ParticipantcONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I think……
sometimes I think the licenses we carry are just slavery passes…lol
You grow up , want transportation, need a job to get the transportation…. now need the transportation to keep said job…… vicious cycle.Munch
ParticipantIn the moments I have had…. and yes theres alot of ’em as I am a die hard country boy the best thing to do… if conditions allow is to try and straighten the bike back up. Just like doing a stop in the middle of a turn… get the bike back upright then slow or stop….. riding out the slide might result in a save but leaves too many variables open to going down. Regaining traction instantly could be a bad one….. ever hit a patch of grass in a field while doing doughnuts on a 4 wheeler? Or momentary instantaneous brain fart on how much pressure you were using on the handle bars and going from a mild turn to a harder angle and shifting the CoG far enough to force a lay down.
edit: I guess I should also the conditions vary…. slow speed minimal sand…yes you can ride it out…. higher speeds… wouldn’t recommend it..especially if you got more sand then turn.

ParticipantNot sure on the bike in question but on some if you go too far to one side you actually go pass the space alotted to let the lock pin go out. Like my V900 and my 500 also …if you went full to one side or the other the pin would not go into the recess…. but if you go back just a little bit you can get it in. Did you try that?

ParticipantI read that and first thought was…ut oh… lol.
Nice looking bike…probly one of the better Zuk’s I’ve seen. I looked at them when I looked for my 9 but wasn’t sold on it…the headlight bezel was just a no go for me. I see you already gotten a start on the punisher theme to….
Oh got a link for you (and anyone else) to help with that: -
