ParticipantSorry can’t get past the van in the back that looks like it reads “Dilled Cats”
Ermm new high society dish?Munch
Participant+1 infinite.
Salvaged doesn’t always mean cracked frame or blown motor. However you will need to be severely critical before buying. Ask every question you can think of…some twice. Then take it to a bike shop and have them look it over… maybe even a second one just in case.Munch
ParticipantGreat vid. I always “Pull through” , also important to know that you should park closer to the opening of the parking spot and not in the back at the line.
One doesn’t tick people off that try to dive into the first open one they see just to find a bike there…. or worse , see it after they hit it.
You just had to do the donuts didn’t ya, damn now our “Figure 8 boy” will pop back in.
Capt’n…. you got one for flat tires? I see this question pop up on every forum I have been to. Especially for front flats.Munch
ParticipantBlew through The sword of truth novels….. got through half the Wheel of Time countless Piers Anthony books…. and one other series that escapes me atm. Something to do with a place called Shinara… or something to that effect.

ParticipantWhen vertical…yes it keeps your bike upright. When you initiate the “counter steer” by pushing on the handle bar the result kicks off the “precession effect”. Which means the gyro (your tire) basically wants to fight back against the force…the more you push it ..the more it fights back. Helping the bike to lean. Then the traction and centrifugal force comes into play to help keep you from laying it down. Same effect if you want to “pop” upright outta lean to go back straight in a hurry.

ParticipantAww come on now…it could be that dancing cop everyone saw on the news years ago practicing his new moves…. never know
Funny thing is the driver of the cage is more concerned about catching the dancing rider then they are the poor youngin’ in the back crying.Munch
Participantmom thing …yea…. cruiser handling…still trying to figure what every one talks about…
anywho…. Welcome!Munch
ParticipantWhat no Pee-wee’s “I meant to do that”?
Did everyones MSF or BRC or rider’s Edge cover counter steering? I took the riders edge and maybe I slept through it, but I don’t remember the idea behind it being covered. All we got was “now when you enter a turn push on the grip in the direction you want to go”…ok now I am not a stupid person and maybe to analytical for my own good, but in the class (feels like forever ago) I kept thinking “push down? push forward how?” Fortunately it’s kinda built in if you ever ridden a bicycle at decent speeds so I never really had to worry about it on the range. However it really clicked with me when I got bored and decided to play with it a bit.
Now I pull the opposite side like driving a skid steer bulldozer or such. Feels a bit more secure to me. I will “push” if I have a hard..and I mean hard ( I missing a bit of my floor board because I aint scared to turn ) turn and i need to dive with the bike……anywho….
my question is …. did they cover this with y’all in detail?BTW glad nothing got hurt but your pride.

Participanthmmmm…. t.v.. Nope really don’t watch it. Since the onset “programs” that have a bad habit of insulting peoples intelligence have been common place I quit watching. Maybe for 3 to 4 years now. Hell even look up the weather on the I-net. Other then that I ride…work more then anything and then maybe read this forum and a few others.
Maybe when something more … I dunno … less insulting comes on I will start again. The closest thing I can consider watching is House, sarcastic enough to hold my attention without the 5 mins of “okay here comes the joke , we are gonna set it up in case you can’t figure it out, there it was, funny huh”
Sorry just me.Munch
ParticipantCongrats! I wonder if a reasoning would be is to see how well you would be able to adapt from one bike and conditions to another.
No matter…. you passed!!!!!!Munch
ParticipantIf I read that right you should be able to go back free of charge in my opinion. People have got to remember that these bikes that you get on are not new…been dropped many times over and at best get an oil change, re tightening of parts and a general “does it start now?, good get it back out there” kind of look over. If he saw that the clutch wasn’t working in a correct range then that should not have gone against you.
Also …again maybe it was just my experience when I took it, however they should have taken the time to help you understand why “it didn’t fit” was it long legs, boots to tall to get under the shifter at the toe, or maybe the bike was just f’ed up.
Keep your head up, with what I read this is nothing on your side of the fault. Heck the Buell Blasts we rode I had to turn my foot in an inward pigeon toed position just to find the lil 1″ shifter lever that it had… the thing had been dropped enough throw a hook in it and I coulda swore the ground off some of it. Some how made it work though, and after all that by the time I got back on my V500… I had to relearn how to ride due to a correctly structurally sound bike.Munch
Participantnah I don’t get that close…. just close enough to use their headlights as a heads up. Plus I have my light aimed a tad high to give me precious more seconds as I ride in the winter to. Before this winter I am getting additional lights.

ParticipantThats why I bounce from car to car … some what drafting them til I can find one that cruises my speeds…then tail them.

ParticipantHehe is funny to see this post… this past week I have blown by a State Trooper on their shiny new B’mers. The first one I figured I would read about in the paper being as he was sitting on the inside emergency lane on an off ramp thats a decent sweeper/ hill. Bout had a heart attack on that one, luckily I was passing an 18 wheeler at the time and I don’t think he could have clocked me. Local LEO’s here say they don’t really mess with bikers much unless it’s obvious. Surrounding traffic can be argued as to much chatter for the gun to pick up accurately. The second time he was waiting under a bridge.. I was doing about 15 over… or atleast the indicated speed on the speedo was 15 over….. and everyone knows just how “accurate” bike speedo’s are. If you don’t …they’re not. Had another heart attack none the less though.
Sheriffs here are the county mounties…meaning they do everything! We have so much space between one town to another it’s actually harder to find a “policeman” then it is a sheriff. State Troopers tend to stick mostly to the highways or open straights. They really get called in on the high speed chases since they really have no jurisdiction limits. -
