What TV shows do you watch?

Last night I was introduced to a new TV shows that I like. I rarely watch TV shows on TV, but with websites like hulu.com and netflix, it’s pretty easy to keep up on TV shows (both current and older).

So I was wondering what TV shows y’all watch. Maybe we can get some suggestions from one another.

My list is fairly long. The show that I was introduced to last night was Dexter. I also enjoy(ed) 24, Battlestar Galactica, CSI (the original), Dead Like Me, Firefly, Futurama, House, Scrubs, The Simpsons, West Wing. There are definitely others that I like, but those are the ones that either I currently watch or that I once watched a lot of. I’m sure I missed a couple too.

So what do you guys watch?

I like Burn Notice, House, Family Guy, Wild Boyz [from the guys that did Jackass (in that small amount of time, it is legally good to laugh at someone when they get hurt)], and Comedy Central Presents. I also watch the news to get serious when someone gets hurt.

hmmmm…. t.v.. Nope really don’t watch it. Since the onset “programs” that have a bad habit of insulting peoples intelligence have been common place I quit watching. Maybe for 3 to 4 years now. Hell even look up the weather on the I-net. Other then that I ride…work more then anything and then maybe read this forum and a few others.
Maybe when something more … I dunno … less insulting comes on I will start again. The closest thing I can consider watching is House, sarcastic enough to hold my attention without the 5 mins of “okay here comes the joke , we are gonna set it up in case you can’t figure it out, there it was, funny huh”
    Sorry just me.

With two young boys, I get to watch lots of Kid TV. Spongebob is really funny. I enjoy as much as they do, perhaps more. (Maybe that’s how I ended up with a yellow bike.) They just wrapped up a spongebob marathon this evening. They showed it allllllll weekend long, including 10 new episodes in a row this evening. Other than that, my next favorite would be Monster Jam on the Speed Channel. Not sure why I like it so much. I even like the reruns.

Although my days of Kid TV are quite a bit behind me, the “Sailor Mouth” episode of Spongebob would surely make any adult laugh. I believe they called the words “conversation enhancers”. Too funny. As for my tv favorites, I tend to watch more of the HGTV stuff, Food Network, love the scenery in CSI:Miami, and I try to watch some CNBC. Anthony Bourdain No Reservations is pretty good, just because he seems to be more of a regular guy than one of the pompous chef types. Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern is just crazy icky.

Still wishing that the Dresden Files got a second season. Mostly I watch movies over and over rather than TV. My sweetie likes Family Guy and Simpsons, so they are on alot, but we don’t have cable (by choice) so we don’t get alot of the popular shows. I’ve seen an episode or two of House and it was interesting, but not enough for me to figure out when it is on regularly.

Used to watch alot of Law and Order and Mythbusters. I saw an episode of Dead Like Me that made the series look interesting, but again, not enough to pursue it. Mostly I read.

Funny that Elwood mentioned the Art of War. I’m working through it right now, along with Proficient Motorcycling, Outwitting Cats, and a book on the sexual mores of the 19th century (don’t ask). Amazingly for me, I don’t have any fiction going, but I prefer fantasy to pretty much anything else.

Blew through The sword of truth novels….. got through half the Wheel of Time countless Piers Anthony books…. and one other series that escapes me atm. Something to do with a place called Shinara… or something to that effect.

Big fan of Dexter and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Loved The Sopranos and Six Feet Under. Watched a few years of Big Love and Weeds but haven’t watched them in a while, they just kind of lost me. As for older shows I think All in the Family is a true American classic, as well written as many great films and novels, 30 years later it still rings too true. Back when Roseann was on the air I liked it, but wasn’t a huge fan, I guess I couldn’t get past the star constantly making an ass of herself at every single opportunity. However when I watch it on TV Land it really does stand out as extraordinarily well written and funny. There was an episode that I watched last week where her pretty teen aged daughter Becky is giving a presentation to the student council and after introducing herself she farts. Her other daughter Darlene in describing the situation to her parents, who knew something had happened but weren’t sure what, can’t help but gloat as she says “and then, Becky cut the cheese.” Absolutely hilarious.

A great show that only lasted one season, Freaks and Geeks. Judd Apatow wrote and produced it years before he hit big with the 40 Year Old Virgin. Better than anything I’ve ever seen on the big or small screen in accurately portraying a suburban high school in the late 70’s early 80’s.

I’ve read “The Quest for the Last Kimeiji”, “Perpetuo,The Transmigrated”. I have also read some Harry Potter 1-4 (I wasn’t that interested in reading them, but a friend told me once in a critical way: “The book is waaaayy better than the movie!!” And so, I read to see if it was true). 2 Dan Brown novels (not fantasy, but, eh).

A great fantasy movie is “El Laberinto del Fauno”. In English I think it’s called “Pan’s Labyrinth”.

    Soooo…. yeah…

Only show currently on TV I make it a point to watch is Supernatural. I love that show. Aside from that I mostly only watch movies or standup comedy specials. I also watch Family guy sometimes but not a lot.

I think the Shinnara books were Terry Brooks. Never read them, but I did enjoy some of his other novels. I read the Wheel of Time up to Crown of Swords then gave up. The first 2-3 were the only ones worth it. Piers Anthony is good, I also like Terry Pratchett, Robert Asprin, Roger Zelany, Robin Hobbs, Sharon Shinn, Anne Bishop, Ursela LeGuin…

Most recently, Patricia Briggs and Jim Butcher have been my candy reading. Easy reads & fairly predictable, but nice action and good character development. :)
