“I know in GA I could not get tags for my car without proof of insurance and a valid drivers license. Seems like a simple but effective way to me.”
Works for keeping honest people honest for sure… and some that are borderline. How do you propose to tackle the “I borrowed it from a friend” ? Oh yea, and how many habitual DUI convicts do you hear about behind the wheel again?
Catching un licensed bikers is like the whole texting ban thing. Easy to make the law a bitch to enforce it. Usually ends up becoming a “add on” penalty for whatever you did to get pulled in the first place.
I don’t disagree with a more rigorous training program. However since Motorcycling is forever being referred to as a “sport” and not a means of transportation any idea of crap laws and rules are moot.

Poker Run varies on the club and type of ride. Some set up rides with certain stops where as the participants see a specific person to acquire a card. At the end of the run everyone compares their “hands” to see who won. Sometimes a monetary pot can be won or the big door prize. Mostly a cruiser club thing. Usually requires an entrance per rider fee. Alot of fund raisers are funded with this method.
    2 more
RC– Riding club, no membership rules other then basic human decency and definitely no social ladder to climb
MC– motorcycle club…everything (for most) that an RC is not. Has a pecking order, requires participation for 80+% of club activities, Full on patches on the jackets and some are considered territorial.
With sweeper be careful to determine in what context… sweeper also describes a long “sweeping” turn, also as said before rear rider of a group, also know as tail captain, chaser and various others.

not at all. If that were the case we wouldn’t have murders, rapists, serial killers etc. As you quoted “stupid is as stupid does” or another phrase…. “Make something idiot proof, nature just makes a better idiot”.
Laws only do little more then restrict those who chose to recognize them. How many bikers you know go out without a license period. I have seen many. How many fishermen you know do so without a license…. again , many. Wishful thinking that so called restrictions would “keep them out of the way” is more a pipe dream.
Unfortunately nature has to takes it course and get rid of the stupids, no law is going to do that. In fact you want more idiots out there….. create said law and you will find more out there willing to break it just to have a cause for their rebellious natures.
Yes you are giving people to much benefit of the doubt….. by that reason alone if they were smart enough to get the training you wouldn’t really need the “laws” in the first place… so why would you then assume they would be smart enough to follow restrictions?

unlike some of the others though… she can’t ground you anymore. Heck mine found out the day I rode up in the driveway with it. Honestly… didn’t care if she agreed with it or not, and she knew that.
One of the few times age has it’s perks.

“It obviously won’t eliminate all of the risks but at least we would have a lot more smarter riders/drivers on the road.”

In the words of Ron White:” You can’t fix stupid”
There are an over abundance of laws that can prove that time and time again.

get better fitting gloves….. theres no way a bug gets into mine…. nor do I sit still or go slow enough for one to get near me. Did have a grasshopper catch a ride with me though. Jumped on the brake cable as I left house… stayed with me for the full 36 mile ride to work at 80+ mph. I can only imagine his surprise when he finally got off…
“Joe…..Frank…..quit playin’ where are you guys?!”

Vstar 650 in a bagged version would probly be minimal entry level for that.
