Yellowjacket in the glove

Second time in a month somethings (winged insect with bad intent) crept into my glove. Last one was unseen but wound up with a hand the size of a balloon and a Dr.’s visit.

Yesterday a yellowjacket. I thought they could only sting once but this little guy seemed to be stinging me over and over again. I’ve got a pretty high threshold of pain but either I’ve lost that high threshold or that thing hurt like hell…right down to my sole.

    Re-thinking wearing gloves now.

    Thoughts?

get better fitting gloves….. theres no way a bug gets into mine…. nor do I sit still or go slow enough for one to get near me. Did have a grasshopper catch a ride with me though. Jumped on the brake cable as I left house… stayed with me for the full 36 mile ride to work at 80+ mph. I can only imagine his surprise when he finally got off…
“Joe…..Frank…..quit playin’ where are you guys?!”

Jeez I dunno about going too slow…yesterday I was on the expressway doin’ about 60. Can’t imagine going faster would have avoided or helped the situation.

Gloves are “open fingered”. Tried full gloves and didn’t care for them.

I don’t know about you, but if I messed up my hands, my life would really start to suck. I’m a software developer and musician; if I lost fine motor control or sensitivity, I’d be out of a job and my favorite hobby/activity all at once.

Gloves protect you from the elements, from yellowjackets, from chunks of rock and asphalt flung up by truck tires, and of course, from road rash and broken bones in the case of an accident. Open fingered gloves might feel better or look better to you, but motorcycle gloves don’t come with open-fingers. If you have half-finger gloves, you’re probably using a pair of lifting gloves or driving gloves, in which case your virtually unprotected. Those aren’t meant to crash, and as you now know, they don’t keep your hands protected when you’re on the bike either.

Get yourself a pair of legit motorcycle gloves. They’re a huge range, in both style and price, from $30 wrist-length vented mesh to $400 double-thickness kangaroo race gauntlet. There’s gotta be something for you in that range. If not, you might as well not well gloves at all.

Yea eternal05 I know what you mean. I make my living and have for many years doing music cues for movies and televisions. My hand are indeed my living.

My gloves are thick, padded, gel pack motorcycle gloves that are cut just past the knuckle. God forbid I go down on my hands but as fingerless gloves go these are pretty good…………..except for Yellowjackets

Yellowjackets are wasps, not bees, and can sting multiple times.
