    When going from one bike to another make sure you get parking lot warm up before hitting the street. Especially stepping up.
    Don’t forget to use the back brake when doing parking lot maneuvers…not the front.
    Remember to look where you wanna go… or you will go wher your not wanting to
    Build up your riding stamina. If your mind and body is not used to long rides, build yourself up to it. Otherwise you will find yourself off in space somewhere whilst the road shoulder slowly gets closer to you.

    ROFL…. just show them the site. Will be easier, a lot of us have put our experiences on here …god countless times, shouldn’t be to hard to find. Heck just the fact that a place like BBM exists and your a member should prove to your credit.

    lol…grats!… 2 lessons learned
    1) Take the curve a tad slower… no rat race
    2) And likely more important then the first…. absolutely no telling the girlfriend of squidly mistakes and discoveries, she will hurt you quicker at times then the bike can…lol

    Never used them but seems ok. I would Highly recommend the “click” type torque wrench. It’s easiest to tell wether or not you hit the proper torque without having to wach the scale of the “bend” type.
    I am bothered however though on that review they found it somehow a bit over stressing that they had to set the torque back to 0…..uh really …your that lazy? No way they would ever touch my bike. Think of click types like guitar strings… you keep the tension on it all the time and eventually that tension is gonna go, just like a guitar you will have to re calibrate ( tune) it.
    Look..I am a professional auto mechanic. For the basic procedures, sure go ahead and get the Harbor Freight tools, or the Flea market stamped and coated ones, I wouldn’t blame ya. Your not using them everyday. However when your talking torque and keeping things precise, don’t skimp… period!
    That Torque company may have a good reputation, how hard will it be to recalibrate it when it gets a lot of use. Make no mistake about it, it will need recalibrating, or replacement.

    Sears would be about as low grade as I would Trust. Your trusting this wrench to torque something your very life depends on keeping tight. Beer budget is not the justification to keep when buying. Also bare in mind that you will need to periodically get it sent in to get calibrated.

    Do it all the time… matter of fact when Hurricane Floyd blew through here I was on a state road with a hand full of others cutting and clearing a fallen tree that had crossed a major truck route. On my bike…yes I have stopped several times to get dangerous stuff outta the way, limbs, turtles, road gators etc.
    Absolutely though safety is number once consideration.

    You know… I am not gonna get into that debate but I do have a predicament for ya…. happened to me…..
    Your driving down a super slab…75+ mph, you see a plastic bag floating in the breeze and getting thrown to one side or the other depending on where the next car gets to it at. Trying to predict the next move it makes sure enough… a cager makes a lane change and said bag gets blown right at you. Next thing you know the bag is now caught on the top bar of your highway bars, no biggie… use foot to remove… ut oh, now bag is on foot. Reach down on the first straightaway you get to get the bag off your foot… now you running 75+ mph with a bag in your hand and no where to put it. Do you hold on to it til you get to your exit? Try and find a pocket that your glove will allow you unzip and store til you get to a can? Or just let it go, I mean wasn’t original your litter anyways.

    That’s cool, just don’t cut yourself short. There’s plenty of low impact ways of getting strength training. Not only can it help get the unnecessary weight off but it can help you keep at it. The “rubber band” exercises are a good starting point. And using just your plain ol’ body mass….like leaning against a counter…kicking your feet out a touch and doing push ups, calf raises with support from the same counter… squats… all these can be done with no weights and can help tone up, strengthen etc.
    I am doing these things myself if for no other reason then to get that mechanics gut back off me. Found a nice little 5 min exercise that gets the heart going and its been doing wonders.
    Anyway, keep at it man. Seems like what your doing is making great progress for ya! Next thing ya know we will be seeing updates of you with some new looking guy trying To GQ the scoot.

    well I could tell you to just do like we were told when learning to ride bulls….. find a playground with swiveling see-saws and spin to the right. It’s a mental thing for most people. For me it was going left and not right as I would have to lean slight more forward to get my arm to extend far enough. Just let the opposite arm pretty much relax and it will come to ya. Practice practice and again practice.

    one more thing…. while your learning on the smaller bike go ahead and take the time to get some strength training for your move up. Even though I have seen women riding full on Honda Valkyries that way little more then you do it will be good for your confidence. However it’s little do as much with strength as it does leverage.

    Naw it should do just fine. I have found though most of the push you feel from cars and trucks on highway come from more from the bikes with fairings, or with substantial side mass. For example the HD Fat boy has a solid plate style rear rim and those things have a terrible time getting shoved around. Besides, who says you have to blow past a truck anyway? Full dressed Goldwings I have watched get pushed some to. I have seen alot of Busa’s and sport bikes get that push to. However my V500 and my V900 I could ride beside a truck all day long (though not suggested) and barely feel any kind of push. Just be mindful of where you are and you will find that it’s not to bad.
