if you do get that squidly, I just hope that the only thing that happens to you is that you do it in front of a cop and get your bike impounded and your license suspended. Despite seeing a few squids on my commute on the freeway, I never wish for them to bin it.

I was going down 101 S on my way to road rider in san jose and this rider was getting off on what would be my exit to get home. I was behind him in the HOV lane doing a decent 75 mph and he pops a wheelie exiting and accelerated past me. How fast he was doing his wheelie, I don’t really know. I just know he put distance from me really fast. He was semi geared at least; leather jacket, gloves, full face shield helmet… but he was just wearing jeans….

Cagers are just as squidly though… Saw one lady today in an suv driving with no hands on the steering wheel. One hand had a cell phone and the other hand trying to flip for something in her wallet which she had over her face. Needless to say, I changed one lane to the left away from her and cracked the throttle open more.

All I can do everytime i see something silly is to just shake my head and sigh…

Nope didn’t have sliders. This was before I got the lower fairings. The only damage done was on the end of the throttle side handle bar and the tip of the brake lever broke off. That was the first time I dropped it. Both times I dropped my bike it was pretty much at a stop, so the only damage occurred the first time I dropped it. The second time I dropped it, the damage that was there was pretty much from the first drop.

Edit: FYI. Suzuki has 2 types of sliders. If you don’t have lower fairings, there are frame sliders. If you do have lower fairings, they call them chassis protecters. Chassis protectors don’t work without the lower fairings and frame sliders do not work with the lower fairings installed.

I had no riding experience before taking the MSF. The only trouble I had with the bike in the beginning was slow tight turns/uturns and going slow in general. Bikes tend to do better when they’re moving and not going slow. Dropped my bike twice the first 2 days I had it coming to stops.

422 miles? that’s like pretty much brand new… Hasn’t even had its first service yet… I have no idea what those bikes go for brand new though… I’ll let those that have gs500f’s tell you about whether this is good or bad…

Nope, you ain’t the only one that’s thought of it. Most people, though, that I’ve talked to who named their bikes and named their bikes with girl’s names point to the same reasoning a lot of boats and ships have girl’s name – treat her with respect and she’ll always get you home. At least that’s what I’ve heard… Apparently, it doesn’t seem with a name like Oliver you’d fall into this category… :-P

Suspension tuning depends on the bike. And for street riding, you’re probably fine with stock settings. This was more geared towards the track. For my sv650s, it’d be around 800 buckeroos to do it professionally and not using the gsx-r parts, which is what others have done. From a couple of heavier riders that have posted, the ninja 250r should handle your weight just peachy keen, but it will work a bit harder to move 240 lbs.

I think the problem is, from what i’ve been reading on forums, is that the suspension on most small and middleweight sports bikes are set up for those that weigh under 170 lbs. Given this, for optimal performance, you’d need to get at least the suspension tuned for you. Personally, admitting you’re hooked on speed, probably means you need to think through what kind of riding you want to be doing. If you can’t control your urge for speed out on the streets and back roads, you’ll most likely bin your bike within the first two months. That’s just my opinion. If you really want to ride fast and safely, be prepared to pay the money for track days. Anyways, ShannonG would wholeheartedly recommend the gs500f, I’d say due to your addiction to speed, you should start off on the ninja 250. :-P

But if you’re intent on getting what you’re going to end up getting, I’d probably go with the 650r with the P-twin… closest thing to the sv650sf, which is what I’d recommend personally… *shrugs*
