I vow now to never “squid”

Apparently it was motorcycle day on my commute home from work. Not suprising considering my commute takes me through pretty much half the Rutgers university campus. It was weird to watch. I would see people in almost full gear (it was rare until today to really see anyone in the area ride with little more than a helmet) drive respectably until they came upon a car and acted as if brakes didn’t exist. Then others still popping wheelies through a tunnel with a blind merge in the middle, at I’d say 55+ mph . . . wearing shorts . . . that’s it. I swear if I ever get that dumb on a bike I do hope karma slaps me in the nards.

On a personal note i can’t wait til my safety course starts(3 weeks left!), thanks to the great people here I have a nice start on figuring things out.

if you do get that squidly, I just hope that the only thing that happens to you is that you do it in front of a cop and get your bike impounded and your license suspended. Despite seeing a few squids on my commute on the freeway, I never wish for them to bin it.

I was going down 101 S on my way to road rider in san jose and this rider was getting off on what would be my exit to get home. I was behind him in the HOV lane doing a decent 75 mph and he pops a wheelie exiting and accelerated past me. How fast he was doing his wheelie, I don’t really know. I just know he put distance from me really fast. He was semi geared at least; leather jacket, gloves, full face shield helmet… but he was just wearing jeans….

Cagers are just as squidly though… Saw one lady today in an suv driving with no hands on the steering wheel. One hand had a cell phone and the other hand trying to flip for something in her wallet which she had over her face. Needless to say, I changed one lane to the left away from her and cracked the throttle open more.

All I can do everytime i see something silly is to just shake my head and sigh…

Isn’t it ironic that CA just recently passed their “NO CELL PHONE WHILE DRIVING” legislation. I got into a big argument with my mom about it and I told her yeah, CA can ban cell phones from drivers, but what are they going to do about drivers and lipstick, fastfood, eye-liner, eye-lash curlers, blackberries (txting) etc, etc, etc………..gee, hope I’m not giving the impression of a gender bias on this one… :)

Lol The other day I’m wondering why the guy ahead of me is swerving a bit and driving way too slow for the road we were on. I go around him and sure enough . . . he was reading a map. Not glancing at it next to him, it was full out on his lap staring at it.

There are scary people who drive. My personal favorite is the guy reading the paper at a light and someone reading a book while driving. Many people just have a lack of respect for the road and the speed they are doing. They are incapable of just driving they have to multi-task.

Most of the erratic drivers I see on the road are on a cell phone.

I read the latest issue of Squid Monthly while riding to work every morning. It is better this way, so when I read about doing wheelies at 80mph in traffic, I can then apply what I just read.

I’m all about safety. So I’ll practice my texting on my bicycle until I have my M license and a bike. That way I can safely text and ride at the same time. ;)

Heh… cell phone use while driving was banned, but apparently it’s still legal to text while driving… I swear, there should be an intelligence test or something if you want to become a law maker…

The sandals are a nice touch. Some people are just awaiting their Darwin awards. He’s got good balance I’ll give him that.

I did see a new squid move on the way home. An old dude on his tourer smoking a sherlock Holmes pipe.

I don’t know if I call “smoking a pipe on a tourer” a squid move. I’m just surprised he could keep it lit! LOL

I was driving to work the other day and about wet myself.

I was trying to turn left onto a street but, there was an SUV blocking half the road so I had to wait till they got out of the way. The driver was smoking a cigerette, talking on her cell phone, and turning right with no traffic coming but, she was just chilling in the way blocking traffic. You may all think to yourselves “gee, what’s so special about that?” I’ll tell you what!!!

I WAS IN BAGHDAD, IRAQ!!!!! I CAN’T EVEN GET AWAY FROM THE CRAZY BITCHES ON DEPLOYMENT!!!.

Now, I get to come home and convince my wife that I’ll be ok on a motorcycle with drivers like that.
