Depending on the kind of top quarter fairing you get, the motard hand guards would probably not be worth getting. At least on the sv650s, the handle bars are behind the windscreen+top fairing.

meh… There’s only a couple of things I could even think of starting out with…

    1. Craig’s list for your area
    2. Yama dealerships in your area.

I’d especially hit up #2 in case they can do something with your bike or if someone who works there might have some knowledge on where to get older parts… Other than that… >.< Edit: what about the guy that sold you the bike? he should be able to point you out somewhere… :-/

Man those things are so fun… we had one in the last project I was on… zipping through the office… vrrrooommm… i don’t think they’re that dangerous myself, but a helmet and joint protection should be enough… Or you could get him sized for perforated leathers, just to be safe. :-P

Nah, you don’t want to do the suspension yourself. Take it to a moto suspension specialist. You’ll have to google for your area or something since I don’t know who you’d go to in your area. Here in cali, there’s a few places that do suspension for road, track, and racing. But as far as windscreens go, you don’t want to go with what the stock windscreen size would be for the sv. Too dang small to do any good unless you’re in a full tuck.

Sorry, not really a clue… Older than 1990 would most definately seem troublesome to find parts and accessories. Maybe one of the OLDER members ( :-P ) might have some kind of idea… what area you from as well?

Wind issues? If so, you’ll probably want to get fairings and a windscreen.

Traction issues? check the manufacture date on your tires. Old tires that haven’t been ridden for a while before you got your bike can harden up. Also, get your suspension tuned for you. The stock SV suspension is basically set up for someone weighing around 150 lbs. and having the suspension not set up correctly for you can also result in some stability/traction issues.

California highways aren’t the bees knees anymore, but I have had no issues sticking to the pavement riding the flow of traffic (and sometimes beyond) on the highways/freeways.

Please be more specific in what you mean stability issues you’re experiencing.

It’s been awfully wet lately on my morning commute on 35… You know if rain-x is safe for a mirrored visor? Getting tired of constantly waiting for straights to wipe and turning my head left and right only does so much…

Isn’t this a new bike and shouldn’t this be under warranty?

Good on you! Group rides are definately fun, especially when you know how other people in the group ride. Sounds like you were all safety conscious, which is good, but personally, on a group ride, I think 4 seconds distance is too much distance. You’re inviting other vehicles to fill in the gap unexpectedly. Keep at it and have fun! ^_^

Saw a gold wing up close once… Lots of trinkets… Like having an RV without the big shell… It was kinda scary though watching one of these things in front of me try to take 84 woodside though… I had to give this guy a lot of room because he was blowing turns left and right… Looked fine going straight, didn’t seem to be able to handle the decreasing radius switchbacks or L-turns though…

ShannonG – I didn’t do clip on bars on my bike.

Budd – My bike @ idle doesn’t sound like this guy’s bike. My bike doesn’t sound like this guy’s bike at all when moto’ing either.
