Be careful trickin’ out your bike like that. If a LEO’s having a particularly bad day, he can cite you for mods like this.

taken at his word and how hard he was breathing after eating leaves, I thought he was genuinely clenching his butt cheeks. He’s definately going too fast on the straights for his abilities to feel comfortable initiating the lean into the turns and target fixating on what he could possibly hit instead of turning his head completely through the turn.

That’s pretty close to what I paid for first service at the dealer where I got my bike at. For the second service, I went to santa clara cycles and while they don’t do official “Suzuki” service per se, I just gave doug the service table from the manual and he looked over what was supposed to be done and said, he could do it. Turned out to be much cheaper than the first service… and I know where doug works and lives so i wasn’t worried about getting hosed… muhahahaha… :-P

Sat on a gsx650f at bikeworld. And i don’t know, but I definately felt the weight difference just sitting on it compared to the sv650 getting it to an upright position from the kickstand. I don’t think I ever argued about the bike being good or bad, but for a beginner who just won’t do a 250, I’d definately recommend an sv650 over gsx650f just because of the weight difference… I suppose with the caveat if you weigh more than my 155lbs and are stronger than me… hahaha… :-/

Nope. didn’t have a clue about the gearing difference. First time I heard of it.

Also, you don’t need to go one piece. Two piece suits are teh sexah too… and more convenient if you need to make an emergency pit stop. ;-)

not much difference between the N and the S/SF models except for the fairings and the handlebar height. Possibly the foot peg location as well. There is 0 difference between the S and the SF model except for the lower fairings. You can get frame sliders for the N and S/SF models as well for guarding against low speed laydowns. In terms of sexiness, that’s in the eye of the beholder. I know people who think nekkids are sexier than faired bikes. I myself think the fully faired sv is sexier than the others. If you want the full effect of teh sexahness, you need to leather up! :-P

Which reinforces my point that this bike isn’t in the same league as the sv650 in terms of beginner bikes. Weight, imo, makes a big difference in noob friendliness. If we’re going by marketing class of bikes, the sv650s is billed as a sports tourer as well. Given the choice between looking at a sv650s or the gsx650f, the gsx650f would never get recommended by me to a new rider.

At a dry weight of 475 lbs., I wouldn’t consider this in the same league as the SV650.

No real specific hand signal for that that I’m aware of. Up here, usually, the hand signal for slow it down is used to denote an accident, obstruction, slow traffic ahead, or construction. Sometimes people use that to signal LEO ahead. The slow it down hand signal’s arm low and raising the forearm up and down like you’re patting the head of a dog.

Never seen the point backwards thing…

Eh? It’s not that cold in San Fran. Winters in the midwest are much much worse.

sliders. Usually, fairing sliders if you have lower fairings or frame sliders.

Ask. When you get to your MSF class ask what they would do. We don’t have much loose cobble stone here, although my apartment gate entrances have cobble stone firmly planted, riding slow over it is probably the best you can do. Or call up the city and ask them to pave some real frickin’ road over the cobble stone.
