Training Wheels

Lately, I have been seeing bikes that look like they have training wheels on them. The almost look like trikes at first then you notice that there are three wheels in the back instead of just the two. Has anyone else seen these? What is the deal with it? Those things can’t be safe and I would be embarassed to use training wheels on a motorcycle. Take the beginner course and get a smaller more managable bike, sheesh.

Never seen one with 2 wheels in the back. except for maybe some atv like thing. Got a pic and why wouldn’t it be less safe than a trike with 2 wheels in the front?

I’m seeing more of these around. Sorry, I know it’s the opposite of what the original post was about. They’re completely mental.

This looks a lot like the one I saw: http://tinyurl.com/5kmcfo

I don’t think that trikes are all that safe either. I think the two wheels upfront is safer and those piaggio things look pretty cool and the Spyder looks really interesting.

Spyder… looks a lot like a ski-doo in person. I was surprised by how un-motorcycle it looks.

I recently saw a custom ‘Busa trike. Made for a guy paralyzed from the waist down. It even had a special pillion seat for the aid-worker who had to ride with him. Stuff like that always impresses the heck out of me.

As for the original post, I’ve never seen a bike with Three wheels on the back… do you have any photos or links?

I just re-looked at the tinyurl link he posted and it looks like that’s the one with 3 wheels in the back. Looks like there’s one in the middle. kinda fuzzy though.

It just looks like a setup for his bike to pull a small trailer or something. Don’t think they’re intended specifically as training wheels. He prolly tours and pulls supplies behind his bike.
