ParticipantI think your wheels would look good painted that brushed aluminum color.

ParticipantThe ninja is more of a crotch bottle rocket. It sits more standard, almost like the night hawk. They are very different bikes though. You have to get something that you feel comfortable on. go to a dealership and sit on a few.

ParticipantAfter going 2up with the wife, I have to agree with fotobits that body weight can steer you in turns. She was no where near the bars, but her shifting her weight on the back was able to move the bike.

ParticipantI am about 5’7″ and I used to think the same thing. After riding the past few months, I recently went into a shop and sat on some of the bigger bikes. I thought the ninja 650 was very comfortable and I was on the balls of my feet. I am not saying to go get the biggest bike out there, or to not worry about seat height on your first bike, but that you would be surprised by how little you actually have to hold the bike up even when sitting still. I have also sat on the ninja 500 and pretty much flat foot it.

ParticipantI did warn her ahead of time. I told her to keep her body in line with mine. In the lean she got scared and bailed. I told her not to do this because it could send us off the road or into oncoming traffic. I was going slow enough that her freak out wasn’t hurting anything. She could hear me telling her to stop it. Maybe her scooter riding experience worked against the experience. She is used to being in control and knows how to shift her weight to lean it, but her scooter doesn’t lean like my Ninja.

ParticipantYes. I have an ’05 and it is fine. I can’t see that they would change that. From what I heard they just increased the range of the power band, suspension, and styling. A lot of squids that have never rode one will tell you it is too dangerous, but they are just trying to justify that R6 in their garage.

ParticipantHyosung is not a new company or even new to motorcycles in Korea. They are new to the states. From what I heard they are a little cheap, but most of the problems are coming from improper dealer assembly because they are not familiar with the bike, or just don’t care. A lot of people have called them the KIA of the motorcycle world.

ParticipantGreat bike. The ninja 250 has a huge following. If you have any questions about it you can find the answer at http://www.ninja250.org in the FAQ section.

Participant“And all of them say they are a great beginner bike. And a good bike for people with experience.”
If those two sentences don’t seem like they go together, it is because they don’t. It would likely be a harder beginner bike and great bike for people with experience. I was talking to a guy that started out on the ninja 250 and later got an sv650. He said it is not a beginner bike and that he was glad it wasn’t his first bike. He really loves the sv650, but wouldn’t suggest it to a beginner.

ParticipantJust tell them that you yearn for the sweet release of death. J/K. Tell them the truth. It is a calcutated risk like crossing the street, riding an airplane, or eating bacon. Tell them that when the good lord calls your name, you are going regardless of whether or not you are on a bike.

ParticipantWell, not everyone is out to injure you. Some are out to maim and handicap you. I do think that some people really do want to hit me. This morning getting on the interstate, I reach the speed limit in the on ramp and turn on my blinker. A car passes and I do my head check and have a wide berth between me and the next car. As I merge I notice in the mirror that the SUV that was far behind is now speeding up. I roll on the throttle up to about 80mph until the traffic in front of me dictated that I had to slow down. That idiot in the SUV just kept coming and got right on my tail. What a jerk. He really wanted to kill me. I am going to have to start carrying ball bearings in my pocket for people like that.
