July 30, 2008 at 12:34 am #9559ShannonGParticipantI’m 5’5″, but our leg lengths are probably about the same since I’m a girl and you’re a boy. It’s a nice fitting bike for me. I dragged my husband’s Aprilia out of the garage yesterday to wash it and found it a brute to handle.
July 30, 2008 at 8:44 am #9591BoOZe P-ti MotardParticipantThis is the mana 850 aprilia:
Gearbox
Sequential with manual or automatic mode selectable by the user.
7 ratios in manual mode.
3 mappings (Touring, Sport, Rain) in automatic mode.
Gear change by pedal or handlebar control.
The user can switch from automatic to sequential mode at any moment.Clutch
AutomaticPrimary drive

ChainI was right about automatic stuffz..duh

You should be fine on any 500 out there. If you don’t like the sport bikes, take a look at the Vulcan 500, too. I think it’s got a little lower seat than the sport bikes.
July 30, 2008 at 12:35 pm #9595BuddParticipantI am about 5’7″ and I used to think the same thing. After riding the past few months, I recently went into a shop and sat on some of the bigger bikes. I thought the ninja 650 was very comfortable and I was on the balls of my feet. I am not saying to go get the biggest bike out there, or to not worry about seat height on your first bike, but that you would be surprised by how little you actually have to hold the bike up even when sitting still. I have also sat on the ninja 500 and pretty much flat foot it.

July 30, 2008 at 2:16 pm #9599JimParticipantI’m riding a Ninja 250 right now, and it fits me perfectly, can flat foot at the lights. For my next bike I was looking at gs500 or sv 650, I was taking my bike in for service yesterday and was looking at some other bikes and their bigger cc bikes were just too damn tall. Sorry for the hijack Shannon.
July 30, 2008 at 3:25 pm #9604ShannonGParticipantI can’t flat foot on my bike, but I certanly have enough contact with the ground to be confident and be able to crab walk it back and forth.
