After an afternoon of fun and hijinks (where the eff do all these vacuum hoses go?) we got the rejet kit into the carb and the air filter installed. The difference in power is subtle at in-town speeds, but I gotta hang on a little tighter when I accelerate. For anyone out there who is thinking of doing this upgrade on their GS500 and has aftermarket exhaust on it, I used the 128 jets and followed Dynojet’s instructions to the letter. Idle was unaffected, as was cold starting. I think I will have a lot of fun on my road trip tomorrow!

I bought a brand new bike before I had ever ridden one, period. I don’t think that’s recommended or even particularly sane. Although it worked out pretty well for me.

If I were too name my bike, I would call it Nancy. Or Cuddles. Just to eff with people.

Is that you in your avatar? You’re looking very sassy beside your new bike!

That’s a gorgeous road. My Hwy 33 looks just like that. Only insert deer every three miles.

I’m glad you told their father. They’re too young to be Darwin award conestants. Sucks about your bike though.

And the dad may have just been too embarassed about his kids’ behavior to deal with you at the moment. Put a bill for the new lever in his mailbox.

Do you have a reserve gas tank with a switch on the side of your bike under the seat somewhere? You may have to set it to the PRIME position. It basically allows fuel to flow into a carbeurator in a bike that’s been stored. Other than that, I can’t help. Sorry!

Either is a fantastic option. I am partial to the GS500f option, myself.

Up here the standard outfit for July/August is short sleeved shirt, shorts, flip flops and helmet. And watch them bobble it at the stop light!
