ParticipantI sounded SO SMART until you posted. Way to ruin my Thursday.

ParticipantA helmet and nothing else is an interesting visual. Wouldn’t you have to worry about insect bites?
ShannonG
ParticipantWow – creepy.
Vampirical tendencies notwithstanding, welcome! And I don’t bite at all. Years of practice.ShannonG
ParticipantI have seen the Piaggio and read reviews. It sounds like you’re not interested so much in the motorcycle lifestyle but more a functional, high mileage vehicle. If that isthe case, a scooter with lots of storage is probably an appropriate choice. However, the review I read said that for only a little more, the 650 Piaggio is less terrifying in highway conditions because the increased power allows it to pass cars easier, etc. If you’re going to be using it for EVERYTHING and money’s not really a concern, get the 650.

ParticipantI think it’s the tendency to be heavier on the throttle. I dirve my Suzuki car like a granny; I drive my Suzuki motorcycle like a banshee.
I hear you though, and I’ve wondered the same thing many times. Many bikes are still carbeurated; would that be a factor? Compression ratios? Bikes are way higher compression engines than cars. It must take more gas to create that kind of combustions.
I’m just throwing ideas out there; I really don’t know.ShannonG
ParticipantI’m seriously ADD and made it three sentences into your intro. Welcome!
ShannonG
ParticipantAny changes a re purely cosmetic. I bet I could take a carbeurator from a ’92 GS500 and put in on my bike. I sort of like that for the availability of parts issue.
ShannonG
ParticipantMight have to check that out. Thanks!
ShannonG
ParticipantYou probably have a black belt in googlilng……
ShannonG
ParticipantThe GS500f has been virtually unchanged for a long, long time. A ’96 will be the same bike as an ’06, except for paint scheme. There is something messed up about the mirrors in the Suzuki website pictures; in reality the bike does NOT appear to have insect – style antennae as they would have you believe.

ParticipantThey need an extra day to show him how to properly store his AR-14 on his bike.
ShannonG
ParticipantWHERE DID YOU GET THAT PICTURE????? I love it.
ShannonG
ParticipantNope, didn’t replace my full exhaust. The Dyno kit and air filter are supposed to go hand in hand. There was some debate as to whether I would need to rejet just with the new can, but my bike has run great since it went on. I don’t NEED this, I just WANT this. Ha ha ha!

ParticipantMy understanding was that although warrantied, the dealerships can’t get parts. So if your Hyosung does break down there’s nothing anyone can do about it.
Find Hyosung owners’ group and find out from the source though. We’ve been bashing the Hyosungs for a long time but so far no one has joined that actually owns one.July 22, 2008 at 7:28 pm in reply to: Word to the Wise on Used Bike Purchases (….from a total newb of course :P) #9120ShannonG
ParticipantI’m sure after learning to ride on it, my bike is very used on the inside. But I bought new because I wanted the peace of mind of having something that hadn’t been abused before I got my inexperienced hands on it.
